Hello, everyone! I've just finished a new mod to share with you all: Respec and Restat Potions. The mod adds 13 potions for purchase. One full respec potion, one single point restat potion per stat, one five point restat potion per stat, and one ten point restat potion per stat. The respec potion refunds all of your skill points, and the restat potions refund X amount of points from Y stat. They should all be available at any General Goods merchant.

There have been mods that do basically the same thing before, but since none of them were available on Nexus Mods I decided to create my own so that everyone here would have access to it.

I've done my best to test this mod properly, and everything has worked as intended. That said, as always, you should BACK UP YOUR SAVE FOLDER before installing this mod as a precautionary measure.

I hope you enjoy the mod! If you experience any problems with it, please let me know and I'll try to look into it.

Torchlight 2 being in dire need of a decent respec mechanic, I'll check this out posthaste.
It seems to work well, but there's a major flaw that can be esploited - drinking the restat potions allows for going into negative points.

Also, I might suggest raising their prices somewhat - currently, they can be bought for chump change.

Thanks for your feedback! Unfortunately, with the way the mod works (simply using effects that already existed in GUTS) I don't think I can check to prevent a potion from working if it would put the stat below zero.

EDIT: I had multiple paragraphs about the price written here, it was kind of a stream of consciousness thing, but let me replace that with something more concise. I can see why some people would feel that the prices are too low, but personally I'm happy with them as they are. However, I might make some alternate versions of the mod that include different pricing models for those who would prefer more expensive potions.

A few thoughts:

1. I don't think it's worth it to go out of your way to prevent exploits. (How does the game treat negative stats, anyway?)
2. In terms of prices, I might actually prefer a version where respec potions were actually free, so that I could freely experiment with builds without having to spend lots of money, make new characters, or constantly reload.

1. I wasn't planning to try to fix it. It's not something that personally bothers me, and it would be way too much work to try to prevent the exploit. The way negative stats are handled is that the stat number continues to go down, but it doesn't actually change anything once you go below 0. Because of this, if you're willing to not have any benefit from one stat, you can use the potions to get infinite skill points for your other three stats.

2. If I make some alternate versions of the mod with different pricing models, then I'll be sure to make one of them have the potions for free, or as close to free as the game will allow.
There is a mod that allows full respec from the respec NPCs already in the game. The way it works is that you have to pay for all six single-point respecs, and then it unlocks the "respec all" button for one use at no further cost. So you have to pay a somewhat significant scaling chunk of money every time you do it, but the total cost isn't prohibitive. That mod does not have stat respecs, however.
