caved and paid for glidos works like a charm now with new textures and better encoded FMV's, still kinda naff that I had to pay again but alas this was the only way for me :P

had same problem here. fmv not playing

and did same thing as you. bought glidos and works great.
Seriously, to those baulking at the idea of paying $10 to buy Glidos......really? It's just a tiny measly $10. I'm sure most of you would have happily parted with that much buying lunch and coffee for the day.

In all honesty, buying it will solve a host of issues in trying to get the game to run in Windows. Mind you, it's probably been a more worthwhile investment for me since I love the game so much and have played it on regular occasions over the last 9 years since I bought Glidos. I have the original boxed version released back in 97.

if you dont want to pay for glidos and you want to fix windowed mode,
just download dosbox, rename the file game.gog to game.iso mount that as your cd drive in dosbox and run tombS.exe problem solved.
With me, the screen goes black on the first cut scene but if I press CTRL-ALT-DEL, then go back to the game, it shows in Window mode. At that point I press Alt-Enter and it puts it back to full screen with it starting the first cut scene properly.

I don't have Glidos installed, just straight forward install on Win7, not running as admin or anything. Hope this helps!
As someone else mentioned, nglide is free and does the same thing Glidos does (and GOG is an nglide partner):
