Having just played through TR1, 2 and 3 after all these years again there's one thing that struck me about playing them originally on the Playstation back in 1996, 97 and 98 respectively and that is how on Earth I actually managed it with the limited saving mechanics without smashing the console to pieces in rage!

I saved a grand total of 440 times during my play of the GOG.com version of TR3 recently, over 28 hours of game time. That's pretty extraordinary. I saved 10 times alone during the final boss fight!

I also had Tomb Raider The Last Revelation on the PS1 at at time when I'd got my first PC. I can't recall what the save system was and I didn't have and never played Chronicles.

So my question is, what are the save systems like in these two classic Tomb Raider games?
You can save everywhere in the first six games.
