My daughter did the old saved-when-she-should-have-loaded trick that is so easy in these games when you're desperate to restart at a moment of high drama. She needs to load a saved game to spare herself a massive replay of the game.

In XP, the saved games are in the TOMBRAID directory, but this does not seem to be the case in Windows 7. Where are they, and how do I load a "borrowed" saved game??
They're in the TOMBRAID folder, which is in the GOG install folder. Have a look in
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Tomb Raider 1 2 3\Tomb Raider 1\TOMBRAID

Just copy/paste the downloaded savegame into the TOMBRAID folder.

Actually, they're not. That was the first place I looked. When I pasted the downloaded game into the TOMBRAID directory, it didn't work. This works fine when the game is run in XP - I tried it.

I read somehere that the saved games were in a "slightly different" place in Windows 7 - but where?????
Yes, they are (I've attached a screengrab of my TOMBRAID folder with the save files selected) .

I'm running Windows 7 too and dumping save files in the TOMBRAID folder works fine. Where did you download the files from? I can have a look and see if they work for me.

It will depend how your version of Windows is setup. If the saved games are not in the program directory, you can check these two volumes in your windows user directory:

C:\Users\USERNAME\Saved Games

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Tomb Raider 1 2 3\Tomb Raider 1

where USERNAME is the user you log in as when you sign in. You might also need to change the drive name and the specific installation location if your Tomb Raider install is in a different location.
