I just cannot get TR4 to work on Steam. If I set the resolution to anything high enough to look nice it refuses to load (just stays black screen, then exit and says something about DirectX but disappears too quick to read it). Rebinding the controls doesn't work (it will still use the default controls). I tried to set up Joy2Key but the game ignores half of the button bindings even though I left them as defaults in the game.

Is the GOG version better? Is it fixed? Widescreen? 2560x1440 supported? Controls fixed?

My mouse is hovering over the refund button in Steam.

I have TR1, 2 and 3 on GOG and they ran fine.

Just in Case if you still ask: GOG is always better when it comes up to old games, because they are optimized.

Widescreen isn't part of the original game so no.
Of course it can modded in easily (though the mod only modifies the FoV, IIRC you can technically select the resolution in the original options menu but it's compressed or stretched because the geometry is still drawn like it's 4:3), the controls thing seems something that might be better on GOG though I never really tried remapping the keyboard.

This is the link to the widescreen mod:

I've only tried on TR2 to play 1080p thus far and it works great, I've also put some 8x supersampling and 16x anynotropic on top of it and it looks really nice.

Did they add it because I can get 1080p on TLR in setup?
Nevermind I see now.
