Hi everyone,

TR 1 comes with DosBox so I'm guessing that's why the requirements are ridiculously high for an old TR game (2ghz, 1 Giga of ram, DX 9 Graphics card). My question is: can I run TR1 comfortably on a slower machine than required?

"Minimum system requirements: Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7, 1.8 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM (1 GB recommended), 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 7 (compatible with DirectX 9 recommended), 2GB HDD, Mouse, Keyboard. "

I've been playing this fine on a pc with 2ghz (athlon 3000) 2gb ddr1 ram and a geforce 6200. It plays fine.
Thank you for your reply.

It's funny because I have exactly the same configuration except for my graphics card which is an old GF 2 mx. My previous card broke so that's why I use that old one.

I wonder whether DX7 card would affect DosBox TR 1 in any bad way in terms of performance, since they claim a DX9 card is preferable.

BTW, it's only TR1 that uses DosBox, right? TR 2&3 launch straight from Windows without a need of emulating anything, is that correct?

If you have trouble running the game, then it must be the old graphics card making it slow (as you say the rest of your specs are near idenitcal to mine).

I haven't got to the other tomb raider games yet (as i'm about half way through tomb raider 1 right now). I tried loading tomb raider 2 and it had no dosbox launcher. So i would think that you'd get better performance with 2+3 rather than the emulated tomb raider 1.
