Hello, i am new here. I managed to run all 3 from the set, no problems, set the resolutions... etc.

I wanted to ask if there is any way to apply Hi-Res pack textures from http://www.tombraiderxtra.com/

I hope it doesn't involve glidos, because i really don't want to pay for that. It would look really nice with some of those. I need it to be done any way possible without paying. I use windows 7 x64.

Thanks in advance

I am wondering this as well.
Am curious about this myself, these textures look beautiful
It requires VDM sound and Glidos otherwise it won't work.
You can use Glidos for free but then there is a 'nag' logo when you play.
Still I never got VDM sound to work. :(
"You can use Glidos for free .."
Do you have an orig. CD or is there a way around that.
I have D/L'ed the GOG versions of 1,2,3 and it asks for a CD.

You have to run the games via the Start menu as Administrator and install them outside of Program Files as well :D
Yes, you can run Tomb Raider using Glidos, i found a method. First i suggest you use the PSX music and FMV for a better gameplay experience. You need Glidos and the DOSBox modified version, all packages are available at: [url=]www.glidos.net[/url]
Install Glidos and DOSBox, inside Glidos folder look for dosbox.conf and edit the file, you see this:

[sdl]
output=surface

[dosbox]
memsize=63

[joystick]
joysticktype=none

Ok, add the following lines (obviously you must edit the path if necessary):
[autoexec]
imgmount e "C:\GOG.com\Tomb Raider 1 2 3\Tomb Raider 1\GAME.GOG" -t iso -fs iso

Run Glidos, select Tomb Raider and click on Adjust... go to DOS tab, select DOSBox, now go to executable tab and delete the fields under Allowed executable sizes, leave blank for no check. Done!

If you want to play Tomb Raider Unfinished Business you need this version prepared for GOG.com [url=]ul.to/b9vr1zf2[/url] simply extract this package into Tomb Raider 1 folder, and modify dosboxTR.conf as necessary. If you want to play with Glidos, add:

[autoexec]
imgmount e "C:\GOG.com\Tomb Raider 1 2 3\Tomb Raider 1\GOLD.GOG" -t iso -fs iso

Select Unfinished Bussines, Adjust... DOSBox and leave blank for no check.

And now, using this useful info from RadG, I've updated Glidos so that you can perform the settings from the Glidos config dialog, instructions on here: http://www.glidos.net/install.html?lang=en
Glidos 1.52 has just been released. Now it should work out of the box with the GOG and Steam versions, without any complicated set up.

I don't think there's a way to use the TRX packs without Glidos. The mechanism they use was developed as part of Glidos, along with the mechanisms for using the higher quality FMVs and PlayStation sound effects.
It's so ridiculous of glidos wanting to charge 10$. I just bought the entire Tomb Raider collection in an offer from Steam for 14$. That includes Tomb Raider 1, 2, 3, The Last Revelation, Chronicles, Angel of Darkness, Legend, Anniversary and Underworld. All in all 9 games, from very old to newer ones for 14$. And they want to charge 10$ for a PATCH of ONE 16 year old game. RIDICULOUS. I am not saying, they shouldn't charge at all, but I would give them 1$ at most and that's stretching it.

EDIT: Oh, and in case you are wondering, the offer was only for yesterday, so don't go looking for it, because it ain't there anymore.

Glidos seems to work well enough. It plays in full screen, which I haven't managed to get to work any other way.

However, there's a nasty delay when trying to open the inventory. Anyone else experience that?
I am getting the inventory delay as well.

Also is there anything like this for the other tomb raider games?

Just in case no one has been able to solve this issue, the inventory delay is as a result of the Direct 3D setting in Glidos. Go into Glidos's settings and change it to OpenGL and you won't have that issue.

The subsequent Tomb Raider sequels don't require any program like Glidos as they're Windows Games and should natively support high resolution settings in their respective graphics settings control panels.

I have TR's 2-5 and all work fine in Windows 7 at 1920x1080. I do suggest, though, that you go to www.tombraiderchronicles.com and get the Windows 7 "Tomb Raider Series Multi Patch" found here: http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/windows7/patch.html

I also suggest that anyone wanting to get the most out of the first Tomb Raider game go and buy Glidos. It's only $10 and it has been a worthwhile investment for me since 2004. I love the original and have played it often thanks to this program.
