SPOILER WARNING: THE WHOLE MAIN PLOT (MAIN QUESTS) OF THE GAME
Titan Quest
Titan Quest begins with a narration, detailing how the Titans once ruled the primordial darkness before the light of the Olympian Gods appeared: after a great war, the Titans were exiled and imprisoned, and the Olympians ushered in a golden age. An unknown time later, a trio of lesser Titans known as Telkines broke the conduit linking Olympus with the mortal world, and summoned armies of monsters to prepare for the release of the Titans.
Greece
The player character begins their quest at the village of Helos, in Greece, where beasts are destroying the local crops. Diomedes, the elder of the village, asks of you to kill a satyr shaman, who is the head of the beasts. After you do that and since Diomedes is afraid of further attacks to happen in the future, he asks of you to travel through Laconia and on to Sparta, to find the great Spartan general Leonidas and tell him to send soldiers to protect the village of Helos from further attacks.
After killing the Centaur Chieftain Nessus, you are allowed to see Leonidas, who says he will send a few of his men to defend Diomedes’ village. He also tells you to travel to Delphi and consult the great Oracle there, about where do these monsters come from. But to do that, you must first speak with Timon in Megara, to help you acquire a proper offering for the Oracle. Timon says it is proper to bring an offering when seeking audience with the Oracle of Delphi. He suggests an olive branch from the sacred tree in a grove, near the village of Ambrossos. The Delphi Oracle of Apollo tells you that you must go through the Parnassus Caves and at the end of them, you will learn the source of the monsters. Beyond the Parnassus Caves, a vast war-camp for an army of monsters has been established. There you learn, by a female warrior, that a dark sorcerer, known as Telkine, is leading a monster army towards Athens.
Arriving outside the walls of Athens, you see Leonidas again and he sends you into Athens to investigate the rumors that monsters have already breached the walls of the city. While in Athens, you are told that there are monsters in the catacombs beneath the Parthenon, searching for someone. In there, you save Phaedrus, the head of the Order of Prometheus (an Order the members of which were watchful for centuries for the return of the Titans). He says that there are 3 Telkines (lesser Titans) and one of them is headed for the island of Crete. There, beneath the Palace of Knossos, lies an ancient artifact, which connects the mortal with the godly realm and without it the gods will be blind to all that’s happening beneath the heavens. So, that Telkine must be stopped before he reaches the artifact. Through the Athens Docks, you go to Crete.
In Knossos, you end up in the Minoan Labyrinth, under King Minos’ Palace, where you face and kill the Minotaur, and then the first Telkine, named Megalesios. However, Kyros appears from the Order of Prometheus and tells you that Megalesios had already destroyed this conduit. Now you must travel to Egypt, using his ship, and meet Imhotep, a Sage of the Order of Prometheus, in the city of Rhakotis.
Egypt
Imhotep asks of you to retrieve the Scroll of Invocation from the library in Rhakotis. This scroll may tell how to restore the connection between the mortal and godly realms. He also tells you that he’ll be waiting for you at the Temple of Ptah, near the village of Sais. When you arrive there, you see the Temple destroyed and you learn that it was destroyed by the Telkine who passed through Egypt, and that Imhotep has fled to the city of Memphis. You meet Imhotep in Memphis and he tells you that in order to complete the Ritual of Invocation and reconnect the mortal and the godly realms, two powerful ancient artifacts must be recovered: the Eye of Chaos, which is in the region near the Fayum Oasis, and the Hand of Balance, from Giza.
After you bring the artifacts to Imhotep, he combines them to form the Scepter of Eternity and begins the ritual, which fails. So the gods cannot hear, and humanity must rest its hope to heroes to save mankind! He then tells you that this second Telkine has been attacking Promethean Temples throughout Egypt, in search of something. These Temples were guarded by the Order’s members for thousands of years. Imhotep realizes that the only Temple still untouched is the tomb of Ramses in the Valley of the Kings, near Thebes, and he sends you there to find and defeat the Telkine. After you defeat this second Telkine, named Aktaios, he drops the Cuneiform Tablet and when you show it to Imhotep and he reads it, he tells you that the Telkines were searching for the Sickle of Kronos, a weapon used in the war against the Titans, and capable of even killing a god. The third Telkine is now in Babylon, searching for it. In order to go there more quickly, he gives you the Scepter of Eternity again and tells you to go to the Temple of Hatshepsut, in order for the Scepter to create a portal there, to get you to Babylon.
