Yes, I know that according to the changelog the devs have changed the minimap but the moment it is now it does not reflect the actual maze which is not kust kind of crazy but also extremely annoying. If you don't manage to beat the minotaur you'll have to walk through a bit of the maze again and in my case I had to cross the whole maze because I accidentally forgot to activate the Knossos portal - and doing that with a WRONG map is really frustrating. I saw a yt video of the original game and there the minimap ws all right.
I thought it was by design to reflect the maze character of the location.

It was not in the original (I watched a yt video of this) so if it was in fact a (new) design choice to reflect the maze character why not disabling the minimap completely at this moment. Running through a maze with an incorrect map is a bit odd.
