Hi,

Since two days ago, every time I start up the game I'm back at Rakhotis on lvl 18, though on Sunday I had reached level 21 and yesterday I reached lvl 19. I had reached the Temple of Ptah on Sunday, the Nile Floodplain yesterday. I've saved several times during play yesterday, to make extra sure I didn't forget - but today I was once again back to level 18.... The only thing I can think of is that the game syncs to cloud when I shut it down, and that the cloud save is stuck at that particular moment in my progression. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?? Any help is much appreciated (I had a similar problem with Van Helsing a while back, but that was caused by the server problems of that game and I had to start that game all over again).

Not quite certain what is going on with 'syncs to cloud...'. However you may wish to verify your save by first 'saving your game', then alt-tab to your windows desktop and launch windows file explorer then navigate to the save directory.

\Users\%yourname-or-computername%\Documents\MyGames\TitanQuest-ImmortalThrone\SaveData\Main\%yourAvatarname

Verify that the in-game save you did moments ago is registered by viewing the time stamp on the folder and files within(date modified, etc) you may need to switch your view to 'details' to see this information. If the time is reflecting moments ago then copy/paste the entire SaveData folder elsewhere on your PC(to manually copy back over for a 'tedious' solution if need be) and then maximize your TQ game and completely exit the game. Then review the files in your SaveData folder to see if the time stamp info is still reflecting a recent save. If not, then something else is going on with your install/OS User rights/permissions/privileges (I would think). Otherwise, I am at a 'loss' as what is going on???.

Did as you suggested, everything in that folder had the 27/01 date stamp on it, before and after a new save... So the game is probably screwed and I either have to start over (sigh), play it through in one sitting (which shouldn't take me much more than 7 days of non-stop gaming, I guess, from 8 am to 1 am without pausing for food or bathroom breaks) or I'll just have to stop playing it altogerther... Thanks for taking the time to help, though!

Before you give up, try moving your saved games to a backup folder, then uninstalling and reinstalling TQ.

To add to Luned's suggestion try reinstalling in the root directory - e.g. C:\GOGGames\ - if you had the game installed elsewhere (like Progam Files/Program Files (x86)).

Sounds like a problem with the write access of the game to the documents folder. Two possibilites:

1) Your antivirus is being an ass and blocking the game from accessing the documents folder --> Whitelist the game's executable in your antivirus
2) If you're on Win10 check if the documents folder is listed among Win10's "protected folders" feature and remove it from that list.
