Hoping someone out there can help. I go to play it and just get a flickering black box that seems to be caught in a loop. No way to get out other than killing the process. Don't think its my Win7 machine because I have the original and it plays perfect. Huge TQ fan and I really want to try this updated version! Any ideas?

It could be any number of issues, but try various resolutions on your monitor to verify that it does/doesn't work at any resolution.

If not at any res, try adjusting your text/DPI scaling to 100%. Just to see if that works or not. If so, you may need to r-click on your icon/shortcut and choose "properties...>compatibility...>... then try some compatibility options.

Hope you have success.

I have really enjoyed this game. I went through the game at 'normal' difficulty twice and now am trying 'epic' difficulty, so far I'm barely surviving:)

Thanks, I'll try when I get home from work. Does it default to a certain res the first time you play? The flickering box was about 1/4 of my screen size...
Just tried different res and all compatibility options... no luck :-( Any other suggestions?
Don't know of anything specific, though you haven't mentioned much about your system. When asking anywhere for computer help it's virtually always a good idea to list your system information. Maybe yours doesn't meet the requirements etc...

You could try make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date, if they already are maybe try a version that's just a little older.

I think the game stores settings in "My Documents\My Games\Titan Quest - Immortal Throne\Settings\options.txt"

Perhaps have a look in that options.txt for anything that might help or look like it's incorrect. For example check what it's trying to set the resolution to and if it's supported by your monitor (if not edit it)

I also see in options.txt there's a line "skipCompatibilityChecks = false" maybe change that to "true". Maybe also try change things like advancedEffects, fullscreen, syncToRefresh to "false" or whatever else you feel might help.

You can always make a backup/copy of that options.txt file so it's easy to undo any changes. There's also a chance deleting it will force the game to try re-detect things and generate a new one (simply renaming the "options.txt" to something else should have the same effect as deleting it).

Though I wouldn't hold my breath as I'm just taking a stab in the dark.
Sorry, forgot to post my specs.... 64-bit win7, AMD 3.1 GHz processor, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 630. Assume thats good enough since I havent had problems playing any other game.

I'll try your suggestions though, thanks.

Edit: I just looked in the settings folder and only have:

credits.txt
defaults.txt
textureReduction.txt

Hello again, I see someone else is trying to assist as well. Great!

I see your txt files listed and I believe you may be looking in the wrong area for the options.txt file. I have mine in the \Users\%username%\Documents\My Games\Titan Quest - Immortal Throne\Settings\options.txt

It should be there, otherwise if you are certain your PC meets all the specs for the game try uninstalling and re-installing it to see if there is a change.

Best success.

Hot damn, that was it! It was defaulting to 1280x768 which apparently my video card can't do. I changed it to 1920x1080 and it worked! Thanks guys!
