Hello,
I just tried to play this game and immediately ran into some weird issues.
The intro starts up with terrible, ugly colors, like you'd see when you tried to run an old game in 256 colors.
Then it displays a message for a fraction of a second and now it's changed into normal color.
Fair enogh.
but then, when I want to save my game, It launches a seperate win95 looking window with the previous terrible colors,
Then when I save and come back to the game, The colors are all messed up and the options screen is just black. The same happens when I try to load the game or close it with alt+Tab.
So, either i come up with a solution or I MUST beat the game in one sitting.

This is similar to my issue. For me the menu in game is just black now. Then when I exit Timelapse, several colors in other applications such as chrome are now black, such as the address bar. This lasts until I restart my computer. I'm on windows 10 and just got the Fall Creators Update. Maybe that changed something?

Late to the party;
I am having this EXACT issue. Has anyone found a fix/workaround to at least save the game?

I ended up just reverting the update and it started working again :). Sorry I don't have more info...

unfortunately, i have tried EVERYTHING to get the choppy video to work. Specifically, here is my problem (which seems to be a very common problem). when the opening scene starts to play (dolphins jumping and the audio starts to play...music and the answering machine) the graphics is very pixilated. then when you go to the game's control panel, the screen goes black - even though you can randomly click the screen as the icons are there... you just cant see them...

Here's what I have determined... this is a graphics card issue.

I have a laptop (hp 625) with W7 and on board graphics... the game works perfect.... however, 2 of my desktops (Win 7 and Win 10) all have W7 and W 10 have geforce cards.. i get the problems i described above...

I have an older system with win XP (an emachine with an upgraded ati card (upgraded 10 years ago) and this game runs PERFECTLY on it. (Note: I have the same problem with another game from gog... "Runaway - a Road Adventure". pixilated graphics and freezes when it starts to paly video cut scenes... however the game runs great on my older emachine xp system...)

i have tried many settings on the geforce cards... maybe direct x you say? i thought that too... i am using direct x 11 for the newer systems (including the laptop that works great) and direct x 9 for my xp system...) which leads me to believe this is NOT a direct x issue...

i think it just comes down to an older graphics card COMBINED with an older operating system... so before you throw out your old systems.... dont! or go buy an older system on ebay (emachine or other similar)....

good luck. hope this helps.
i don't think it is a graphics card issue, but rather an operating system issue. windows 10 updates have caused a lot of grief for people who still (try to) play older games.
I'm having the same issue. The game displays some pixels off-color or black. I was unable to figure out how to access the in-game menu, but the function keys F1 - F8 would alter the display color. When I exited the game, several of the colors on my desktop had changed.
I'm also having all of these problems and have had the same problems with AoE and Lighthouse.
Running in compatibility mode doesn't seem to help and I also can't access the navigation menu even to leave the game.

Hello PrOxyOne,

timelapse needs 640x480 and 256 colors.
If it is not possible to chance your graphic card in your Windows system, do as declared:
Install ScummVM, there are a lot of drivers in it, to your Computer.
Install any program, perhaps indiana jones, in ScommVM and start it.
If you see indiana jones in correct colors, you have the driver for your graphic card.
Restart your computer.
Start timelapse in compatibility mode without any chances for the windows system, but with 256 colors and 640x480, for administrator.
Exit is only possible with the windows botton on your keyboard.

Greetings

Eddy
