Does GOG release include (somewhat rare) SVGA version of this game or its same as Steam release (ie jack shit)?
I don't thnik that a svga version exists.
I have never seen this version and this game had only mcga (320x200 256 colors) version at the release.
It does exist, but it seem to crash in DOSBox, that's why, I guess, VGA version was chosen for both GOG and Steam releases.

Update:
In fact, the problem was in my DOSBox setup. SVGA version exists and works.
Thus, it would be nice if it were easily and legally available, since the game looks much better this way.

Curiously, it also has different English translation. In my opinion, it's better in SVGA version, but then I'm not a native speaker.

Yes, the SVGA version would be very welcome. I played through it recently and it is just much easier to see what you are doing. Also the backgrounds are lovely in SVGA.

If you google "TIME GATE: KNIGHT'S CHASE SVGA" you should be able to find a blog with a link to the iso in the comments.

Its real (i'm playing it right now). Only downside that i found - fmv movies playing in a small window (too lazy to redo them in svga graphics?)
PS - in fact svga version similar to AITD1 on Macintosh, higher res models and slighty retouched backgrounds https://www.mobygames.com/game/macintosh/alone-in-the-dark/screenshots

VGA has been chosen because its the standard version and the only that supports differents languages.

Even if svga version exists, I have never readen an info about this version before now.
Just compare these two videos:
VGA:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCyIIf_qeMs

SVGA:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlbc5rKcMUE

It's pretty bizarre: All the backgrounds are very similar but not exactly the same in the two versions. They seem to have been redrawn/touched up from the same source material. It would be really nice to have the option to choose which version to play.

If svga version is not avaliable in other language than english, I don't think that gog can offer this version if this version exists.

It's not a problem, they can always add SVGA version as additional bonus (like HOMM2 windows version)

There's info in manual provided here, that's why I even went to check this forum.
Sorry for necro-ing this a year later, but the I-Motion US release has both the 320x200 and 640x480 versions. I guess that would be a different license, but it would be nice to see that here, so we can choose which one to play.
