I saw the screen shots to this game, and it kind of reminds me of an old school action game called Perfect Weapon. Is it anything like that, or am I getting the wrong idea about it?

I've never played Perfect Weapon but I thought I'd answer because I doubt many other people have either. (I could be utterly mistaken)

Watching youtube of perfect weapon the controls do look very similar. In time commando the controls do suck, they did back when it was released too. I kept coming back to it though because of the presentation and different settings.

I've found in general that the old action games have not aged nearly as well as the old adventure, RPG and strategy games. Time commando, however, has the advantage of no other game I'm aware of having the same,"travel through time and kick various people asses with various, technologically improving weapons" theme.

Oh well I am right there with you on action games not aging very well. I actually liked Perfect Weapon a lot is why I asked lol I have it on the Playstation 1, and after writing this question I went onto Amazon to purchase the PC version as well. I will give this game a shot and see how it goes. Thanks for getting back to me.
If it goes on sale, just get it for the music! It's great! :)
I agree about the music. It is indeed great!

This is the first time I've played it. I hadn't even heard about it until now, but after buying it here on GOG, I have to say the game on a whole is awesome. It's true the controls and camera angles are very frustrating some times, but it wins you over with the varied environments and time periods with new weapons and enemies. It's one of the best totally linear games I've played.
