When I first saw the gameplay video at IGN, I was really exited how Baldur's Gate-like the game looked - but even better. I immediately wanted it.

Then combat broke out into a collector card game. Turned me right off. I hope they make a more RPG (not card game) version.
Me too...i don't like gwent
If you don't enjoy Gwent, you can play the game in 'Story Mode', this allows you to skip the Gwent card battles.

Thanks!

This information should be somewhere, because not all people like gwent.

So what kind of battle is there instead?

None. Just the story elements.

Kind of a weird option.

Anyway i may not be a avid fan of gwent but i am a fan of the Witcher stories so I am willing to play the game because of this (cards included...hehe).

That is most importnat news about this game!

I was under the impression that it is mainly card colletion game and was about to pass it. If there is an option to skip all card battles that changes everything for me. Can you give some more info about this option:
- how are battles resolved when you skip cards (pure rng / more power = instant win / anyhing else) ?
- how long is the game when you skip all card battles (I guess card playing makes up to 50% of game play time)?

Am i the only one who loved Gwent part in Witcher? Why so many people says they will not but this game because of Gwent, when this is literally SingePlayer Gwent. The witcher plot is additional part, guys.

As far as I am aware, story mode plays like normal mode, the battle is there still, the big difference is, you can fail your battle on purpose by passing all the rounds, then the game will give you an option to skip it entirely. Some encounters have form of puzzles more than playing cards though, so I guess you also have the option to pick encounters you want this way because you have to see the battle before opting to skip.
