I've built the Trading post, have a tonne of gold but can't turn it into wood to let me buy anything!
I've tried just trying to buy stuff, I've tried clicking on the gold and the wood in the top right corner & I'm out of ideas..

How do I do it.

You need to click the Trading post itself (small board right in the middle of the screen in your army camp) then a window will pop up with options to trade gold for wood/recruits and wood for gold.
