I have been happily playing the game problem-free up until now, but each time I get to Davor's Abyss, the save icon freezes, a flash appears across my screen briefly and I lock up. I've rebooted several times and no luck. Anyone having trouble at this spot? Mahakam so far has seemed to require more rebooting than the other areas.

Maybe try lowering some settings and see if the card game plays out. I got better performance by disabling nvidia's AA altogether. Some card matches were hanging up to 7 seconds, like it was bottle-necking info. The auto-save seems to cause some random freezing too, though it's more of a quick stutter.

Also, IF you have any cards that auto-play at the start of the round i.e. Sceptor of Storms or similar, maybe try removing it from the deck and see if it'll go forward.

Others have stated setting fire to a row and having a trap on the opposite row i.e. fire on ranged, spike trap on melee row, causing some sort of conflict with the game, which I've run into. Disabling my nvidia AA helped a bunch though. At the time, thought it was the fire's burning effect on-screen eating something up at the higher AA.

If it were me, I'd try lowering things and see if it can get past the area. Also, double-check you have a recent gpu driver and are not over taxxed on your RAM or VRAM.
Thank you for your help. I removed all cards from my stack that appeared at the start (Sceptor of Storms being one of three) and that helped one time...until it crashed immediately after.

I have AMD Radeon and went into the CCC to see how to turn off anti-aliasing and it's not even an option? I have my drivers on auto-update.

Edit: I went into the settings and disabled anti-aliasing and changed the graphics settings from high to medium and verified I have the latest drivers and still nothing.

I'm going to try to do an uninstall/re-install and if that doesn't work, I guess I'll wait for a patch and hope I can play it down the road unless anyone has other suggestions?
