Given that there is no time limit on completing the quests in this game and, that there is the fast travel option, is there any benefit in increasing Meve's movement speed other then her running a little faster around the screen?

Nope! Just makes Meve a speedier Meve and so faster at moving around the map and hoovering loot up. :)
