I have been playing quite a few GOG games on my PC but with this game my luck ran out.

When trying to install it right towards the last I get the following error:

___________________________

Unable to execute file: Sdbinst.exe

ShellExecuteEx failed: Code 5

Access is denied

I am trying to run it on a Win7 64-bit machine with an MSI Nvidia GTX580 FROZER II and 1.5gb video ram. I have 32gb DDR3 ram on board. Drivers are up to date. If anyone has any ideas about this I would appreciate any info. I don't have Sound Blaster on it as it is running integrated sound which so far has worked with every game so far. I have not yet figured out what this could be.

Try disabling your A/V during the install. Though that commonly shows up as a MoveFile 2 error.
Thanks. I will try that. I was curious about "Access is denied".

Also, interestingly enough, I went to get on my Steam account this evening and I found Steam telling me that it could not connect to the internet. But the internet was working fine. Turns out it was Zone Alarm SS. I had to get the program to accept Steam.exe in my Steam folder. Have not got a clue why ZASS just up and decides it does not like something that has been running OK so far. I have Thief 3 running on an old Vista XPS 720 fairly decently at the moment but I am going to try this in the next couple of days and see if it will work on the Win7 PC as it runs quieter and cooler.

YUP, Zone Alarm SS was killing it. Had to go into ZASS preferences and force it to be OK with this games execute file. Not the first time this happened with Zone Alarm.
