Hi,
I was trying to get Thief DS with Sneaky Upgrade working on Win11.
Whatever I did, nothing seemed to work.
When installing Sneaky, when the time came for selecting the options for the folder paths, the Win11 virus protection popped up immediately and says it blocked it from creating folders in Documents
If I then told the installer to allow for custom paths and tried to create my own paths, when Sneaky supposedly finished installing it gave me an error which said "Renaming one or more temporary folders failed. The mod installation folder must be cleaned up manually" and then when the tweaker menu was supposed to pop up it gave me a message on how the community texture pack installation had issues and that I would need to reinstall Sneaky from scratch.
Only once did I get Thief DS with Sneaky to start up and the main menu was a mess with missing buttons and running at a low resolution and when trying to start the actual game, the game froze on a black screen
I tried installing Thief DS from both Galaxy and the offline installer.
I tried adding the Thief DS installation folder AND the Sneaky installer to the virus protection exclusion list on Windows.
I tried running the Sneaky installer as an admin.
What sorted the issue for me was to ONLY change the folder paths for the top two options (which pointed to Documents by default) so I DID NOT change the paths for the bottom two options, the ones which point to Program Files.
I didn't see info on this on the ModDB page or anywhere when doing a quick search so I'm sorry if this has already been posted or was common knowledge.
ALSO, it seems that if I want to change to a new resolution I have to restart the game. When doing after the fresh install it seems that starting a new game from the menu also works for changing the resolution.
(Come on Nightdive with the remasters for these Games. Get TFix, the Bentraxx texture packs and Sneaky Upgrade built in by default and tech issues sorted. I dream that Nightdive gets some of the original devs of Thief back to work on expanding the levels in DS, etc, I tweeted about this once a long time ago and Harvey Smith (formerly of Arkane, Ion Storm and Thief, Dishonored and Deus Ex fame) liked my tweet so hope remains (however futile) that "expanded" versions of DS and Invisible War are still possible)
