I saw somewhere that the GOG version was better and can run "out of the box" but I bought the whole series on Steam but never got to start playing them because I always got too frustrated with the setup needed to play T1 ( I will probably soon because I had a blast playing Gloomwood which i recommend for every thief fans)

I have 3 more questions, but I'll probably ask on steam also :

- Considering I'm the kind of person that is very keen on playing the vanilla version of games and only look for fixes of bugs, issues and other compatibility issues, which version will suit me better? (Steam or GOG)

- If I get the GOG version is there still some handling to do, other fixes necessary? (like for the cutscenes I heard)

- I heard the GOG version works under the patch named "NewDark", so Is it possible to apply this patch to my Steam version?

I use Windows 10

TFix (for Thief 1) and T2Fix (for Thief 2) are pretty much essential for any version, including Steam. It includes a newer NewDark build than currently used on digital platforms and some optional fixes and mods as well.

Just don't manually verify files from the Steam library and you're golden.
as always, if you don't care about mods and enhancements, the GOG builds are ready to go. steam builds are outdated and broken (especially T2, which is a complete wreck), and will require additional patching, TFix and T2Fix (can use the lite versions to mirror the GOG builds).

I played all three GOG versions of the game (currently finishing DS) on my WIn10 box without any problems.
