So i have discovered that while playing Theme Hospital there is a rather serious bug that causes the games standard "normal" gamespeed in the dropdown menu, to be exactly the same as "max speed" Meaning that when you think you are playing the game at the normal speed, things are actually running about 50% faster then they should. This makes the game exponentially harder, and not the way it's meant to be. The faster game speeds would normally be used when your hospital was running smoothly, so that finnishing the level wouldn't take as long.

I have tested this on a wide range of pc's all with the same result, i have also watched youtube videos of people playing this version of the game. All showing the same bug.

You can easily test this just by counting the seconds that pass between days, first count with the game set to normal speed, then change to max speed. You will notice that the exact same amount of time passes between change of days.

The CorsixTH version of Theme Hospital does not have this bug (do the same test as above), and runs at the correct speed. However i really want to play the original, but simply cannot enjoy it knowing this bug is present.

I really hope that this can and will be fixed, because this is a very serious problem with game.

Kinda baffled how this hasn't come up more, it's a serious problem with the GOG version of the game.
Maybe try messing with the DOSBox cycles setting?
I'm afraid this may be a problem with the DOS version of the game as I had a non-GOG installation from before I re-bought the game here and that also had the same issue in DOS. It's easily noticable - you can change the game speed by pressing 1, 2, 3 or 4 and there's really no difference between 3 (normal) and 4 (max), they both run at max.

Changing cpu cycles doesn't help much, because max speed can't be slowed to "normal" without making everything else sluggish and laggy.

However the original game also had a Windows version, which still runs well on Windows 7 and doesn't have this bug. Not sure why it wasn't included with the GOG release. It's a shame they left it out, as it's not a complete authentic copy without it.
