I had a hard time getting this working too. I don't know if it's the same for everyone but the exe's that come with the game just don't work as they are.

Open the server.conf file in notepad and where the line "IPXNET STARTSERVER" is, add a port number to the end. So now it would be "IPXNET STARTSERVER 2000" for example. Save your changes then start the server using the Host exe.

For the Client to connect they just need to open the Client exe and type in "IPXNET CONNECT <IP NUMBER> <PORT>".

You will also need to open the port you've entered through your router for the client to connect.

The only problem I've had with it is that the game runs pretty slow, just about playable but pretty annoying. Let me know how your experience is.

Hope this helps.

I couldn't find this file on either mac or windows. I thought this would be easier since GoG ports the games to make them compatible (or something) and when I first opened up the mac version you are greeted with

Theme Hospital
Theme Hospital Multiplayer

and got excited that they had improved the situation, but not only does this not appear on the Windows version but I just can't seem to make it work at all. Would it have been so hard to make it work, it's not like I haven't gotten other games to work over network.

I have the old game and so far this isn't working any easier than that. :| I hope that because so many people bought it on sale recently (presumably) they will improve the situation or somebody smart and nice will do a really clear tutorial, even just for Windows, to make things work.
