I'm worried about the PC version because there has literally been zero gameplay shown on the PC (unless I've somehow missed it or videos were so crappy that I mistook the video for being on console). All of the gameplay I've seen in previews has been on consoles from what I've seen. Very concerning, but I'm hoping I'm just being paranoid and CD Projekt Red hasn't sold their souls to the console overlords.

Edit: I was right to be worried, it's really obvious that there has indeed been a graphical downgrade from what I have seen online.

I have no idea how they got it running as all review copies are console but graphics should be the same.

This does not look like a next gen game... What the hell, CD Projekt? Seems like you sold out for console cash even though most of your fanbase is made up of PC players!

Total hogwash.

It's a pity that it seems they did, I read somwhere that gameplay is quicker than Witcher 2 as well, I've a feeling that this game will feel like Skyrim but in Witcher universe. Not exactly bad, I think it will be great even but they had the potential to create not only GOTY but possibly Game of the Decade.

I suppose one way for PC gamers is to wait for an Enhanced Edition that will incorporate (hopefully) the future expansions as well.
Whiners will whine....no matter what.

This game totally looks like next gen on PC, every other statement is just stupid.

PC Games hardware did a test and the game ran on ultra and full HD even on a 2 GhZ cpu and GeForce 770. The pc version is the most beautiful and best performing version of The Witcher 3.

You either haven't been following the game in the news, but no, this isn't people just "whining." There were gameplay trailers that looked way better than what is now being shown for the PC. Screenshots that were shown earlier for the PC looked better than what is being shown now.

They even stated that the PC version would not be dumbed down because of consoles... And yet here we are. I built a brand new PC, specifically for the Witcher 3, for apparently no reason. I don't know what happened to the CD Projekt Red that seemed to take PC gaming seriously, and want to push the limits of what PC could do, despite consoles, but apparently that version of CD Projekt Red doesn't exist anymore.

Everyone who has eyes can tell the huge and obvious difference from what the game looked like when shown in 2013, to what it looks like now. This isn't a small change, graphically, it looks like it has been downgraded quite a bit.

This is the first company that I have ever trusted enough to pre-order their game (the Witcher 3), and then they pull this stunt?! Lesson learned, thank you CD Projekt Red for treating me and others like chumps. I will never trust another developer studio again, no matter how honest they seem, and it's all thanks to you CD Projekt Red.

Also, the fact that CD Projekt Red has lied about there being a downgrade of some sort really ticks me off. It is so freaking obvious that there was a graphical downgrade! You can see it visually! Why would they lie about something that can obviously be seen?! Not at all impressed.

Alright, first of all I encourage all of you guys to switch to this thread as it was started earlier, it is about the same matter and has many useful links and different opinions. This way you can save yourselves time.

It's said NVidia HairWorks (part of GameWorks) eats a lot of GPU, so to have 1080p 60fps on Uber settings with GameWorks you'll need a very powerful rig. Having built a new PC was not in vain.

Back in 2013 there was no game, only the trailer. It was made to look mind-blowing. Following CDPR staff there was no game to downgrade so no downgrade has taken place. You can hear it yourself in the beginning of this interview. To be honest this kind of excuse sounds cheesy even to me, and I'm not a big fan of these downgrade talks.

Let's just wait till 19th and the first youtube reviews of (real) PC version, or if your new PC is really powerful, you'll see even earlier with Uber settings and GameWorks on. Then come back here and tell us what you think.

All the footage we've seen on youtube is mostly console gameplay for the rarest exception of the last few days which to me looks like a fake, it seems they were not playing on Uber w/GW. As I said, let's wait a bit and see for ourselves.

Here, at the end of the post, you can find requirement for different settings.

Downgrades happen for different reasons, they changed the graphics, because what was shown before was an early prototype and didn´t have to render the whole world including background simulation etc.

To make the game run on PC with a decent framerate they had to change graphics and not because of console ports....this is just stupid conspiracy theory stuff.

The game still looks absolutely mindblowing, so this, from my perspective, is whining if people complain about the graphics.
I've seen live steamed footage and viewed it at sorce level quality and frankly in some places the Witcher 2 looks better, the rubberbanding trees look really bad ...i've never seen wind so that to a tree.

I've also seen Min vs MAX PC and PC vs PS4 comparison and I can't see much differance in some cases the PS4 version looked nicer.

Now that said my GPU(potato) is 4 years old the PS4 is 3 years old the PS4 is 30% slower then my GPU ...why cater to outdated tech it's not like the game supports windows vista now is it?

Why not make a maxed out PC version then trim it down to fix the weak console hardware it's not the same as building 2 or 3 versions... it's 1 version stripped down but no the make the game based on the weakest hardware the XBONE.

While I've been looking forward to this game since i finished the witcher 2 and i'm not going to cancle my pre order like some people have i'm very disapointed that the PC isn;t the lead platform.

If the game plays great and the story is as good as the earlier games then yes i'll be happy but if it isn't epic in those areas then i'll have to really consider future CDPR games with care.

The last game i preordered was ME3 and i swore I wouldn;t do it again but I made the exception with this game, i've even gone as far as to chamion CDPR and defend them so I hope this game doesn't dissapoint.

The problem for me here is how can you be sure they were really playing on MAX settings? And were these MAX settings what they should be, like Uber with GameWorks on?

Come on, PS4 was released in November 2013, TW3 is not going to PS3, so you were not mistaken in PS version. So... are you from future?

Yeah, it'd be the best solution. Don't remember for which game particularly but it's been done before. It's a big question why CDPR didn't do it.
I think we shouldn't care so much about graphics but about how we're being left aside like the kid with bad breath in the ball.
I can't really blame CDProjekt for selling their soul to the devi... I mean, console lords. It'd be silly not to think that this is a business, and they want profit. But leaving the PC community like this, is a shame. There wouldn't be a Witcher 3 if not for us PC gamers, who bought their previous games. Yet we get the last piece of the cake, that one that's shredded by forks and toppled aside.

From my point of view people are mostly complaining not because a probable (not-confirmed) downgrade has taken place, but because they've all purchased really powerful and expensive rigs and think it was in vain. From what I've learned in the past week reading different thread in our nice community, GameWorks will drain a lot of resources from GPU, so playing with GW on and Uber settings at 1080p 60 fps will hardly be possible with a single GPU.

And we have that people with powerful rigs can test new technologies which I think in case of TW3 should be joyful, and people with less powerful rigs shouldn't worry at all cause they wouldn't be able play on max anyway.
ppl that bitch about the game graphics downgrade should get just one thread to do so. the insanity of ppl imagining that the first trailer wasnt in game footage but gameplay 100% cant be cured. they will troll and bitch and whine just because they cant run the game on max settings via xml settings file and that is their problem. oh and stop saying the game looks crap just because u saw it streamed or on youtube. EVRYTHING looks fuckin better when u play it and not on youtube/twitch and shit. just stop with the bitching cancel preorder go cry in a corner or what ever who gives a fuck

@green.anger

The IGN live stream was the PC version all the setting were max apart from AA at medium and light shafts was off, they kept hair works off because it kills FPS.

Now I wasn't that impressed with how the game looked, and if found it very hard to tell the difference between that and the PS4 footage.

My GPU is from 2011 and the PS4 when ever it came out was out dated the PS4 is 30% slower then my GPU from 2011...the Xbox One is even weaker then that.

The whole thing is CDPR built the game with the weakest platform as the benchmark, they have one build for all 3 platforms it has to work on the weakest one there's no 2 ways about it.

If it had been built for PC like say the witcher 2 for example, the console versions had to be cut down to be able to run on Xbox and PS3 because they couldn't handle the graphics and I can't see why that wasn't done again.

Nitpicking about what year I said the PS 4 came out really doesn't matter the fact it came out a year later then I thought actually makes it worse as it was 2 years newer then my GPU and still slower.

Still think they should have gone all witcher 2 on the game and made the console users have a cut down version but some people are still insisting that the PC version looks 10x better I just haven't seen it maybe because i'm looked at 1080pvs 1080p and not 1080p(console) vs 4k(PC).
