apparently no one knows because ive googled it and not one person seems to know where the maps for this gear is, most guides say a merchant in Hiearch square in Novigrad but no one there sells them

How can no one know?

I'm surprised you haven't come across them yet. The armourer in Hierarch Square, Novigrad sells them.

Edit: Also, the bookshop next to the armourer and Éibhear also sell Griffin maps (not sure which).
