Just noticed they all have the same face and glasses a moment ago. Did a patch change
this or has it been like that the entire time?

I realize not literally *all* of them are clones but a good number are look alikes
and it's getting stale.

Eh, I've noticed - and I might be wrong about this - that all travelling merchants are the same person and all merchants you meet in freed settlements are clones. I imagine there's more of that in the game.
