Just wondering what did you choose as a reward at the end of the expansion from O Dimm. Never getting hungry was really good. Also saddle looks cool but it says something about opponents close by that i havent found out. The vodka is an ingredient for some alchemy recipe i havent found yet so i dont know about. The make me rich sucks since you only get 5000 gold...
If you have some more info about the rewards i would appreciate it
cheers

Well, I replayed the ending of HoS several times to check out all the rewards, and was really tempted by that saddle... Kind of cool riding around like one of the horsemen of the apocalypse :)
In the end though I decided to go for the "good ending", it just felt like the right thing to do (given that O Dimm isn't really someone you'd like to have around), so I got the swords as a "reward". In the next playthrough I'm definitely going for the saddle...
The alcohol is, afaik, just used for brewing/replenishing potions and the like, but I must say that I was never lacking strong alcohol, so for me I don't think it would be that useful.
Also, if you complete before finding Ciri (I did HoS just before Isle of Mists) you can ask a few questions about her, which is kinda neat (doesn't get you any physical reward, though).

Well, cant say your option was the good one in my view. I let that bitch die because he deserved it. He killed his wife, her parents, turn the prince into frog and killed who knows how many other people. Also he did made a pact with the devil, so why not let devil take his soul? It was just right....

About the sword yeah i agree its really good but for how long? Swords become weak as you level up. Maybe in the next expansion you will find an even better. But that food that never ends? Its something you will always need no matter your lvl. Just my opinion. Cheers

Well, I wrote "good ending" for a reason (since it isn't really that good, I think we agree on that ;) ). As I said, I was pretty tempted to let G o' D have him, but for me it was chosing the lesser evil...
We pretty much know Gaunter is a very dangerous and vile creature, just doesn't seem right to let him off the hook when you know there is a way to (temporarily) thwart him. (Just a bit OT: I found it pretty interesting also that Gaunter is the one who urges you to pursue Shani, when it's clear that this is not going to go anywhere. I thought that was an interesting little touch...)

Also, you can think of letting Olgierd live as a punishment as well, since now he has returned to being a human and can fully understand the magnitude of the wrong he did, and suffer accordingly (he did not, in fact, kill his wife, mind you, that's stated quite clearly).

As for the swords - you are absolutely correct, that's why I really struggled with the choice for a bit (oh, the temptation!). Although the Venomous Viper silver sword is really pretty good, best silver sword I have found during my playthrough (I didn't use Iris much, rather smacked people with the caretaker shovel just for funsies ;) ).

Btw, what reward did you chose, in the end? Food really only makes sense in the higher difficulties though, doesn't it? I've only done Sword and Story, so far, never lacked food except maybe in White Orchard...

The Shani sistuation was strange indeed. When he told me that i should go after her even though i wanted to go finish HIS job, I though "he's a cool guy". He did help me there even though he didnt have to. And when you finish his tasks he removes the marks and he is a gentleman. No tricks there. After all he makes deals with idiot people who are greedy. i like him. A LOT!
I have chosen the Horn of Plenty for endless food. Even though it heals only 40 out of combat/25 in combat wich is little compared to other foods that heal 80/80, i can keep my self full health all time out of combat and save the other food only when im low health in combat. It will be usefull even in the next expansion when the lvl cap will be higher.
The viper sword was indeed great. But im pretty sure i will get a far better in the first lvls of the next expansion. And i didnt like the Aard stat on it witch i rarely use in combat anyway.
cheers

ps. i didnt get the riddle part. You are trying to solve the riddle and in the end you dont solve it but catch O Dimm from the water?? What the hell was that? What about the riddle?

Ha, see, I had a bit of a different take on the Shani bit - yes, he does "help you out" a bit in that situation, but he isn't really a good guy, so why do that? I thought it was a bit of an "apple and snake" situation, after all, fulfilling unhealthy desires is kind of his trade, and temptations of the flesh have always been associated with evil rather than good...

The thing is, after I done the deed with her, and she was all "oh, I need to think about this", I did really feel a bit bad. Both me (the player) and Geralt know that you won't end up with Shani, it's absolutely clear that this is just a one-nighter. So her being all melancholic and thoughtful surprised me somewhat - "wait, she actually thinks this meant something? Did I give the wrong impression?" and yes, Geralt sure did give the wrong impression ("I choose you" "you'll always have me" etc.). So in the end, I did flirt with her just to get laid, while she seems a bit more invested.
So, well done, Gaunter, well done...

As for the riddle - don't remember it in it's entirety, but the answer is "reflection" (children delight in me, maidens twist and twirl, old people shy away... you cry, I cry... can't hurt me or injure me etc...). You can't catch him in the mirror, because he breaks them, but he can't destroy his reflection in the water. Actually, the cat and dog demons give you a hint also ("seek salvation in glass that does not break"). You need to "solve" the riddle in order to catch him, but luckily, the game kind of solves it for you if you're not quick enough to figure it out ;)

Sorry for the long rant, but I just couldn't deny myself the pleasure ;)

I never was offered any reward...How did you guys get it?

Did you beat Gaunter o' Dimm? In that case you get Olgierd's sword by default.
You have to let Gaunter take Olgierd's soul if you want him to reward you (he did offer a reward in the beginning of the quest, you might not remember...). Obviously, if you beat him, he's not going to give you squat ;)

Yeah I beat him, next roll through I will let him have Olgierd. Thanks for the tip!

I didn't think it mattered squat what I chose in the end, I played HoS after I finished the main quest and couldn't use whatever I got because the game was over for me. Cool that I know what the choices are if you don't help Olgierd tho. Thanks for that info.

Well, the items (can definitely confirm for the swords, at least) do carry over to NG+, if you're into that sort of thing ;)

the answer to his riddle is mirror.

and since he breaks all the glass mirrors in the nightmare, the only possible outcome is to use non conventional one from the water. clever innit? ;)

Yeah, i didnt get it at first, because my english suck. But when WildHobgoblin(and you) explained it i finally understood it. It was clever indeed. Too bad this expansion was so small,i dont seem to get enough of this game!
