Hello all, I bought the original Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt a while ago and now I notice that there is the GOTY edition available. Is there a way to upgrade my game to the GOTY edition? I am not willing to buy the game anew to get the GOTY edition, but would be willing to pay for an upgrade if the price were reasonable.

Not at this point, no. Sounds ridiculous, but until someone from staff gives a reasonable explanation on something that should be so simple... no, we're stuck with the 'old' version.
If you have the base game, the free DLCs, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, then you essentially have the GOTY edition. You do not need to buy the GOTY to get the same deal; they are identical. The GOTY edition is basically one package for new buyers.

I just wish they'd at least give a heavy discount to those who already have the base game minus all the dlcs. Or am thinking of buying it on steam where its surprisingly a LOT cheaper. Strange they make you shell out more on GOG.

I've considered buying the GOTY just to get the all-in-one installer but I'd feel a bit stupid paying 50EUR for a convenience that GOG should considering handing out anyway for full-everything owners.

I personally thought of that as well, but as I searched and dig through the internet, it's just that the GOTY Edition have all of the DLCs included. and technically I've already installed and bought all the DLCs, so it equals to having the GOTY Edition.. sooo if you've all of the DLCs and all expansions installed then, there you go, GOTY for you as well :)))

Same thing, I've pre-ordered TW3 (but have not bought the DLC at the moment due to lack of time for playing).
An option to upgrade to the GOTY version would be really appreciated, I prefer to have the most recent release of a game (with only one installer) :)

Oh, okay, so the difference is just an all-in-one installer.

I was a little confused, like I THOUGHT I had everything, yet it didn't replace my copy with a "game of the year" copy, but I guess that makes sense because someone could own the original but not all the DLC.

So anyway I guess I already do have the game of the year edition, save for having to install the DLC separately, which I guess doesn't matter.
I'd like an upgrade for the GOTY too. Having to download all the installers separately if I could just download the GOTY feels a bit dumb.

However, as someone who bought the game physically, I still don't "officially" own the game digitally, even though I can simply download the digital copy all the same.

It's a bit of a mess. Wish someone would clean that up. I'm sick of seeing a "Purchase" button for a game which I can freely download as often as I want. At least Steam automatically marks games as "already purchased" as soon as I activate them. GoG could do so too...
Yes, I have to agree. If we own the game, we should be able to buy the GOTY for a greatly reduced price (basically just buying the DLC). If we have the game and DLC, we should just gave the GOTY automatically, as Steam does in such cases.

I haven't bought the DLC yet. I was waiting until I got done playing through the first two games (which I just finished). Now there's the GOTY out. I don't want to waste money buying the thing for full price as I already have the base game on GoG. And I don't want to buy the DLC right now in case GoG finally wakes up and sets things up properly for owners of the original.

At this point I might just end up buying the GOTY on Steam when it's on super sale (as they often do). I'm very disappointed in GoG right now.

Then you'll be disappointed in Steam also, as the Steam GOTY version is a mere bundle. I would link it, but I'm not sure if that's allowed.

Steam's policy / Steamworks are a hassle regarding fully-integrated & original versions. It's the reason why Dishonored and many others have simply bundled GOTY versions on Steam.

As for the topic.. I have the original game + season pass, and I prefer it that way, as I want to control which expansions I install, or rather when I install them. But I do admit that I kinda want to have the integrated GOTY version "just because", haha.

Good point from several of you that the Original Game plus the season's pass essentially amount to the GOTY edition (except for the single install). I might just buy the season's pass, though I will wait until I have a computer powerful enough to actually play the Witcher 3 (I purchased the original game early to support GoG even though I knew I wouldn't be able to actually play it for a while...,).

No, they are not identical, mods for v1.31 non-GOTY won't work in v1.31 GOTY, modders have to create and maintain two separate "branches" now. Stop spreading incorrect information over and over and again..

No, you don't need an update. The script file hasn't changed with patch 1.31 - so no update is needed. But there are still differences between Non-GOTY and GOTY - so you need to pick the correct version ... in your case the Non-GOTY version. "

And hundreds of evidences more if you take the time of reading the forums.... GOTY =/= non-GOTY !!!

First, I never mentioned ANYTHING about 1.31 patch. Second, it has been confirmed by CD Projekt themselves that it is the same game. Thirdly, you take your "proof" from a bunch of amateur Nexus modders? Incredible idiocy there, you moron.

You are the illiterate moron sir, just make an sfv check, if you know what that is. So the evidence is not enough if the God "CD-Projekt" talks for you, isn't it?? HAHAHA, poor soul....
