Why not make it a separate entry on GOG? What if I don't want the update because it creates more issues than it solves? If it's an update, then it will replace the current offline installers with the new version. Anyone with the game should backup IMMEDIATELY to have access to the original version.

I REALLY hope they do not replace the original version with their modded one. I do not like some of the popular mods and I really disliked the TV show, so I hope they allow us to turn these things on/off, or just play the original game as is. Allow us to play the game we love, give everyone a choice please.

Because CDPR doesn't care what you as a consumer wants. They gonna force this down your throat and if you don't like it, whatever.

I can run TW3 right now with HIGH settings and 60fps, i'm 100% sure that after this new update my PC won't be able to run the game like that anymore, so i will be forced to play on LOW settings and screw me right? Amazing that i bought a product but i won't be able to use it anymore without having a bad experience.
For the love of god I really hope they do read here and also other comments on twitter. DO NOT update it without leaving any options to downgrade for everyone. I don't even know if Epic has this kind of option so people there are potentially f... But for everyone else - steam has the beta option and gog has always had downgrade option. A lot of people will want the offline installer too though. If I am not mistaken one of Resident Evil games had this fiasco recently where they updated the game for next gen or whatever and so many people had problems playing it after so the devs had to add the downgrade option. Just do it before it happens - please !

I really hope the devs understand that Witcher 3 is still a popular game and one reason for it is cause it can be ran easly by 1060 for example - still the most popular card on steam and so are other low end GPUs. New cards are stupid expensive. Do not make the misake thinking that the upgade suddenly will make everyone buy a new card or something. A lot of people will still want to play their game on their 1060 /or even worse card/ normally with the same FPS and same quality as they did in the past 5-6 years now. It is great that you upgrade for these who have the cards it really is ! But when we bought the game we knew the requirements and we paid for it already. Do not change them so many years later unless you make it as a separate product like all the Skyrim stuff

Personally I think these kind of updates should be always like an optional update - DLC-like. You instal it if you want it and have the GPU

If you own the game on GOG, you can download the offline installers.
If you do that before the Complete Edition is released, you'll always have the current version.

For the GOG version to auto update, you'll need to use Galaxy.
If you start Galaxy after the CE release and have TW3 installed, it will probably auto update. You can turn that off, but it might ignore that and still auto update (personal experience with other games).
On the other hand, Galaxy does have a rollback option for updates.

I agree, that TV show is an absolute travesty. The only thing good about it was Cavill's portrayal of Geralt which is absolutely fantastic. If they were to change the current model's head/face to Garalt, I'd be fine with that. But the ballsack armour from the show. Whoever decided to bring that crap into the game needs to be named and shamed. It's already a terrible sign that CDPR are integrating ESG and woke garbage. Cyberpunk 2077 was already the victim of diversity hires and it with the way CDPR looks to be going, their upcoming games are going to suffering in quality accordingly.

Horrible decision. It should be a separate entry altogether on both GOG and Steam.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of this at all.
I had a game that I paid for and I was happy with, and they are retroactively messing with it.
Who knows how will this affect performance, how many new bugs this will create, etc.

It should be separate, just like Metro Exodus, or Divinity (the devs of these games by the way still gave it away for free, but did not screw over people who were happy with their old versions).

It also bothers me how silent CDPR is on this issue. The marketing is full speed ahead, they are talking about stuff like Netflix DLC, but they are not answering questions about how will this affect system requirements, what features and/or content can be toggled on and off, will dx12 be necessary, or if there will still be a way to run it in dx11 mode.
That's awful and a idiotic choice. Time to back up I guess.
If this is true:-

I find it very sad. That CDPROJECTRED would do this. It is against the GOG principles. That I believe they started out with.

So do we now we have Bethesda two. Another game producer forcing what it wants over what I want.

Another Game producer to stop buying games from.

I hate BULLIES. We have enough of them in Russia. With Putin, and his supporter.

I have my game setup the way I want MY Game to be. CDPROJECTRED, you screw it with auto updates you come here and fix it.

Give me the CHOICE to change MY game. MY purchased and paid for game. The one I bought from you. That I now own.

If you have ever perceived, I have given you permission to change my game I rescind it here and now.

I was looking forward to the new changes. I PRESUMMED it would be a new game. "Witcher 3 Ultimate version". Not we'll update it no matter what you want.

Or if you have mods in it put them in the mod folder so they can be removed. IF I don't want them.

I had enough with Bethesda stopping me from playing Skyrim SE unless I updated it to the next version. I had it exactly the way I wanted it. Hours of trial and error with various mods.

Thanks to the rollback that modders made I can now. But it took a darn long time for the moding community to sort it out. And we lost many modders who had great mods because of Bethesda's bullying. They will be missed. They are already missed.

So The Witcher 3 is Ukraine and the next gen patch is Russia forcefully invading..

Bit of a hyperbolic equivocation.

Regarding CD project - they are already in americand hands then they will do what US "entertainment" industry will dictate with all PC and ideological content. Poles sold piece of their culture and now that piece will be "formated" to adhere to US market.

Keep your political BS for yourself and out of forum. Regarding "Bullies" let just wait when USA and their little gnomes will "bring democracy" to another country by butchering civilians and carpet bombing cities. If you have no idea what you talking about then just leave because there is nothing more cringy than someone who playing now "shockingly surprised" by by current events. Disgusting twisted hypocritical stance.

Get your offline installers while you can.

And yes, screw that Netflix garbage.
