Sup guys.

After playing the game for well over a week. I can say it's a very great experience. I'm level 32 right now but I haven't finished the main quest (I think I'm close though). Despite this, I've been planning a second playthrough already.

Now on to topic. After I reached level 10 or so.. and got some decent gears.. monster were clearly so under-leveled and easy to kill. Even monsters that are on my level and a good few levels above. I'm playing on Broken Bones difficulty so I guess it can be harder for Death March but I really think a scaling level system for the monsters would be better. Don't you think? If the monsters scaled with Geralt, it'd be a much more thrilling and exciting experience to do contracts.

With a system like that, I think the game will become a true open world experience. Because right now, although you do have a big world to explore however you like, story-wise.. there's quite a bit of path you need to take in order to progress.

I hope they consider changing current monster level system.. because the way it is right now.. killing monsters becomes a chore.. not a job. :)

I have never been a fan of scaling level systems. I much prefer systems used by the Gothic series as opposed to the Elder Scrolls series (Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim...) With the Gothic series, you were always kept on your toes and you really felt a level of accomplishement and increased power when leveling.

I am not sure how difficult this would be to implement, but a choice is the level scaling system the player could choose to use in the game on starup would be a nice option.

Well you could always look for monsters with the skull icon. I'm sure they will be somewhat of a challenge.
I love the fact it doesn't scale, because it makes you think twice to go into areas you shouldn't. The Gothic series was indeed a masterpiece in this regard, sadly barely any game has this feature. I do believe I shouldn't be wasting more than 2 seconds with level 5 Nekkers when I am level 30.
I think the monster level system is pretty decent and works fine.

=)
Yeah detREy. You are right!

No, I can't agree with that. I just loved killing a fiend 10 levels higher than my Geralt :p
I'm not of fan of level scaling also, actually I thoroughly hate it, but I would agree that the monsters need better A.I or at the very least, harder difficulty... I switched to Death March and it's still no challenge, after I have mastered dodge anyways.

Low-level monsters can get annoying after awhile, I agree with that too, but maybe instead of level scaling they could replace them with high-level ones, or even rare ones? I mean fighting drowners and wolves over and over can get boring.

Personally I prefer this system over Skyrim/Borderlands. I prefer leveling to feel worthwhile and I'd rather the difficulty came from good design (and not from cranking all the enemy variables to obscene values as you progress).
Hmm yeah. After reading some of you thoughts on these I guess a scaling system would be considered a crude solution to this.

True. But does it even make sense that Geralt has a hard time killing Drowners because they are well over your level range? I posted this on the CD Projekt forum too and a guy replied with a very thorough answer/solution.

Unfortunately now that I think about it, changing the stuff regarding monsters would mean a revamp of some of the existing systems too.. which would be too much work for them so its probably gonna be one of the things on their suggestion list that will always remain on the list.

Don't get me wrong. I love the game. In-game counter says I've played 2 days and 16 hours. I guess it started counting after I left White Orchard, haha! Every hour I've spent on it has been very worthwhile. Going to a quest, then suddenly getting dragged somewhere else because of a nice view. Ahh. Such an awesome feeling.

Scaled leveling is awful honestly. It's fine if you have a game like Skyrim but it doesn't make sense plot-wise or any other way in this game. I shouldn't be hassled by nekkers after a few levels and gear upgrades.

Yeah thinking about it... level scaling does seem awful.

The reply here sums up what would be a good improvement on the game.
I like this leveling system a lot more than Oblivion. I don't like the monster leveling with me. If I want a challenge I just go and hit a skull monster, like for example I was exploring a Velen cave when a level 25 golem showed up. It took me 2 hours to finally beat it, but it was something I enjoyed a lot. I was leveling 5 btw.
