Witcher 3 suddenly stopped letting me meditate, so I am stuck out of bombs and oils etc. Any ideas on what I can do. GOG is absolutely worthless, I try to contact them and mark technical issues. Seems to be a loop they just take you back to a suggestion page. At this point I don't think I will ever buy another game from GOG. I would like to keep playing Witcher 3 but until I can meditate I am stuck.
Whats up with not being able to get an answer or even contact GOG support??????????????????

Never heard of this issue.

Is everything else working as normal?

Have you checked that your key assignments in Options are set properly? - Try setting them to Default or look in particular at the Binding for Meditate (should be "N" on PC)

Are you running any Mods? Is your PC up to recommended Specs?

As you say "suddenly", I am assuming it worked before... Did this happen after patching, or any other change?

Might want to post here for bug help.

Have you tried fast travelling? I heard that that worked for one person with the same issue.

I can almost guarantee you there's at least one thing that's crucial that he's not sharing here...;) Like overclocking (most people won't tell you the truth about that because they've decided the hardware should run perfectly overclocked or not), or mods--some folks install them and forget them--or else think that the problem they are having can't possibly be related to the mod(s) they've installed, etc.
Everything on my PC works normally. It is all up to date I have Windows 7 64 bit, it is a i7 quad core only a couple of months old and it has 16 Gb of Ram. The meditate worked until some time yesterday 7-19 , I was on the Main Quest a Favor for Radovid when I discovered the problem. I even loaded another check point which was the Jenny of the woods and it still says "you can't do that now".
The other problem with the game is, I have no voices in the videos only the captioning. If I crank the sound up full blast I can barely hear what I guess is the dialogue and the back ground sounds are far too loud. I can live with no voices in the videos as it has the captions, however if can not meditate and replenish, vitality, bombs and potions the game is virtually unplayable. I have 64 hours into this and was enjoying the hell out of the game. Now it seems I have wasted $60 and another $25 for the new expansion coming out.
the thing that pisses me off the most is not being able to contact GOG and the few times I managed to send a ticket or inquiry I received no response at all.
If I delete the game and reinstall will I lose all I have gained. I am at level 17 and do not wish to start all over. I did google the problem and found that some people back in 2011 had the same problem with Witcher 2 . I never did see where the issue was resolved. Any help would be appreciated as I am pretty frustrated at this point. I guess I will go back to Skyrim and WOW if I can't get this fixed. I would also like to cancel the order for the expansion pack and get my money back.

Oh yes I forgot I not installed any mods and my PC is NOT Overclocked.... You may feel this my fault somehow, myself I think it just a buggy game.. I play several different games on my PC and this is the first time I have run into this type of thing. Also the first time I have found anyone as unresponsive as GOG. The fricking game was working other than the sound issue until yesterday.

If you are going to re-install, then ensure you copy out your savegame folder (should be in C:\My Documents\The Witcher 3\Gamesaves\). But, I would check the obvious first - like ensuring that your keybindings are set to default, and that there is actually a binding for Meditate.

Note also that you cannot meditate while in combat mode.

Re: the sound issue - there are a number of posts about that issue throughout this forum.
Thanks for the response Peetz, I have made sure the key bindings are set to default and I can go to the meditation page either by pressing n or doing tab and space bar, it lets me set the amount of time, but gives me the cannot do that now routine. I know it doesn't work in combat, but no matter where I am, in buildings or outside or by a fast travel or after I use the fast travel, I get the same message. If it your in a bad spot it used to say it was to dangerous to meditate. This just says you can't do that now.
I posted on the bug part of the forum but haven't had any responses, I guess I will try saving my save game folder. Can I copy and save it to the desktop or should I save it to a USB stick or my documents? I haven't done this before.
Have you by any chance started the quests Swords and Dumplings for Hattori and fled a combat because it was too difficult or something?
Doc may be on to something...

Are you stuck in combat mode? It should be obvious because you won't be able to loot anything, even if you don't notice Geralt's stance. If so, you will have to go back to a save before that happened.

If you do want to save your savegames, you could put them anywhere that is convenient for you. Why not make a new folder called W3 Old Saves and copy them to there. Then after re-installing, you can copy them back to the main savegame directory.

Don't forget that saves are "forward-compatible"... that is, a save made with 1.07 will not work with 1.02... but a save made with 1.02 will work fine with 1.03 - 1.07
If he has started a quest with a scripted combat situation, or a situation with a scripted "no rest" condition, it is possible that he got stuck in it if didn't complete the quest.

Most of the complains I can find on the internet point out Hattori's Quest.
He should try to complete the quest (Hattori's or any other that might cause the problem) and he'll be able to rest again.

Thank you, that is probably what is wrong I do not remember which quest but I did stop trying because I could not win the combat and I tried for a long time, realized I was not going to win and did something else. So now I guess I need to either win that or go all the way back to mice in the tower, because that is the last save that I can still do meditation.
So I guess I will go back and play from there, it's either that or start a new game.
It is a shame that such a fun to play game would have some asinine crap like this if you find you are in over your head in my case I think was to low of level or just a shitty fighter not sure which.
At least this solves my problem, If I can find it I will try a few more time to win and if I can't I'll just go back to mice in the tower.

Thanks
Most battles, you can safely walk away from - it does seem that there are a few (like the one Doc mentioned) that are bugged.

Though the game makes autosaves for you - it is good practice to do a Manual Save prior to each quest / Battle / unknown cave... Ya just never know what is going to jump out at you...
Ok Thanks to all who helped me out, it was the sword and dumplings for Hattori quest. I found a save game that was just prior to accepting it and all is well, I can once again meditate.

Thanks again!
