Just wondering if someone can help me out with this.

So far I have almost no complaints with Witcher 3 and I think it's an amazing RPG. However, there is one annoying flaw with the keybound+Mouse controls, dodging.

Alt is (imho) a very unlikable dodge, so I thought that I would rebind it to C since many other games I play (ie: TERA) have that, and it ALMOST works, except for the fact that the game is hardwired to have C as sheathe, so if I don't pull off a dodge correctly I'll actually just sheathe my weapon.

I know it's a small thing but does anyone have a workaround for this?

Edit: I don't know how to spell sheathe apparently.

Yeh. The ALT key dodge is very awkward for me too.. C would be a great place for.. and since you can sheathe your sword by using the same key as taking it out (ie. press 1 to take it out, press 1 again to sheath it), it's really not needed to have a dedicated sheath button.
Exactly my point! I'm hoping they patch an option for this in or someone knows where in the mess of files I can go to manually change it and hopefully not break the game.
Problem solved:

Go to C:\Users\your-user-name\Documents\The Witcher 3\ and look for the file input.settings. Copy it as a backup and then edit it with notepad.

Once in, control-F "Sheathe" and find any that links to "C" and replace "C" with whatever key you want instead. Tested and works like a charm.

Happy Monster Slaying!

Alternatively you can find a solution to bind keys in the sticky.

I don't know your abilities in text file editing :o) If you need more details, let me know.

I've managed to do this sort of thing though.

You would need to edit the input.settings entry. There are two entries for the 'C' Key:

IK_C=(Action=DiveDown) <-- in water :o)
IK_C=(Action=SwordSheathe)

You could move them to two separate keys.

OR

You could just find and replace " IK_C= " to one other Key, but both actions would be moved.

Either way, then find and replace " IK_Alt= " with " IK_C= "

Signed. Almost impossible for me to dodge quickly this way. I personally solved this problem without replacing any key: Double tapping a movement key does the job.

I actually started using my controller for playing Witcher. Just because on Deathmarch I have to use the dodge key way to often. Alt is so hard to use when playing with a ketboard ;P
