(Please note that I'm still only half way through the game, so I'd appreciate it if you could kindly not spoiler the following stories)

So, I'm doing the mission where I search Phillipa's hideout, and came across this megascope crystal, which later Triss extracted information regarding Phillipa trying to rebuild the Lodge. Then came the options what Geralt (and in this case, the player) would do with the crystal.

I gave it to Triss, obviously. But then I realized my motive behind the choice is actually because of my own agenda. (I haven't been to Skellige island so I've yet to discover the Yennefer option, but well, since Yennefer and Triss are bros, I figured it wouldn't be a problem).

You see, I don't like Radovid - or should I say, of the two monarchs, I prefer Emhyr var Emreis. With so much history between Emhyr and Geralt - Geralt saving his live, caring for his daughter, going through hell and back when she was in trouble - chance is, as ruthless as he is, if Nilfgaard takes over the North, Emhyr would not stab Geralt in the back. Besides, I have the feeling that Emhyr deep down respects Geralt - I mean, at the end of the books after he spoke with Geralt and Yennefer he literally went "welp, fuck the prophecy bullshit, I'm gonna take over the North by myself."

Which is why I actually kinda want to see Nilfgaard take over.

And Radovid? When the 3rd Nilfgaardian war is on the horizon, what did he do? Take over Kaedwen! Because of course, that's the obvious thing to do! And instead of rallying up the mages who are basically weapons of mass destruction, giving the amnesty and showing how much a good bro he is, let's go all out on witchhunting at the same time!

Yeah, he's fucked up.

Which is why Geralt, and in this case, me, would do whatever I could to fuck up Radovid's plan. As much as I don't like Phillipa, she's not stupid, at least not to Radovid's level. More importantly, she puts the well-being of mages above all, and Geralt has quite a few sorceress friends. I'm pretty sure she would work something out with Emhyr once the dust settles.

Besides, I would trust Triss with my life if I was Geralt, and same obviously can't be said about Radovid. Triss has always been the "good girl" character, and I trust her judgement.

Yeah...I got way too worked up on the story. Good job, CDPR, you guys did the magic on me.

well the games are not cannon, they are an alternative story of garalt, namely YOUR story, thats the beauty of a game this is your personal story, it dosnt really need to make sense bookwise:

personaly I have never read the books I only played the game, so it made perfect sense that I when't for Triss over Yennefer. I just played all 3 games in a row and made a connection with Triss though all three games.

You are not the only one who wants to smack the king's "stern" mug. I mean, over the course of the first two games, I have, in the interest of supposed stability: lifted the curse on the princess he was to wed (though that was more for her father's benefit, not so much Radovid's), and in the second, gave the heir to his care (and I thought Roche was gonna be her guard, I'm not sure what happened, nor do I really wish to.)

I furthered Radovid's agenda along the first two games, and now I'm feeling like it was a huge mistake.
(Shoulda known something was up back in the first game when the Salamanders were trying to hit him up for funding...)
