Fighting everything I can, I came across this Bandit Camp. After killing all the bandits, went to the cage with the guy sitting in it, and it tells me I need a key to open it. I "looted" all of the bandits, no key found. "Looted" all treasures in the bandit camp and no key found.
Went to the nearest town to see if anything was on a bulletin board about it (for a quest) and nothing. Used Witcher Senses to see if a key was in area and still nothing. Any ideas?

The key is always on the bandit leader - he is typically the highest rated bandit. If there is no bandit leader it is possible he was killed or got stuck in scenery or...

You can go back and try a save before the fight (if you have one) and watch for the bandit leader label as you fight them. He'll have the key.

Thanks! I go back and search around and see if I missed him and his loot. I had lured them into the woods and he may be dead somewhere.

Found my save right before the fight. Looked for the Bandit Leader (looked for the label) killed him and the rest of the bandits. Went to the Bandit Leader first and checked his "loot" and he had no key on him.
This Bandit Camp is the one located on an island to the right and down of the "Boatmaker's Hut".

Must be a bug, have played the game past that stage 4 times and never had the issue. Did you try playing through that bandit camp again from a previous save?

Hello. Just got done playing that save a few times to see if it would trigger a key. No luck. The only thing the Renegade Leader had on him for loot was a Velen Longsword.

It isn't a bug. What you need to do is come back to the camp and in the minimap look for a small red circle with an X on it which is the loot from a bandit body. You should be able to find actually 2 keys, one of them is the key for the cage.

I encountered something similar recently (and it was near the area you are talking about). There were two packs of bandits (well, actually it was only 1 pack and a lonely archer nearby). The quest item indicator was pointing to the corpse of the leader (i.e. the leader's remains were glowing in white), but the item was actually in the lonely archer.

So, my point is try loading your save from before the fight and if you cannot find the key in one of the bandits you have killed, then search for a lonely bandit around their camp.

I think its a bug. I know about the little red circles with the x in them on the mini-map. After getting near them the "Loot" icon comes up.

I did search around the camp and in the woods for a couple of hours around every nook and cranny, tree and other areas for a lonely Bandit with no luck. Tried different ways to fight them after loading save numerous times. And the Quest Indicator is pointing to another quest I was doing and not to any of the corpse's of the bandits.

p.s. Anywhere on this forum to post/attach a saved game in rar form so someone can check it? And I also did a verify\repair the files thingy and it found all files good.

Thanks developers for fixing! Patch 1.08 downloaded, installed. Checked inventory, Bandit key is there, went and let the merchant out of the cage.
