Just these last couple of days I cannot get the map to show - I'm just getting the background with no map - hence I'm stuck on one of the isles because I cannot see a landmark to fast-travel to - anyone else had this problem? . . .

I had a similar issue: When I opened the map, I just got some icons and a black background. Of course, the solution was to wait a few seconds xP

I did try that - maybe I should try waiting longer! . . .

I tried waiting - left the pc for 5 minutes - nothing - I am restarting the game and if it persists obviously I am going to have an unplayable game . . . .

Yes I have an unplayable game dammit . . .

Did you try loading a previous save?

Yes I tried that too. Also the page that the map is supposed to be on, the buttons do not work if I click on them -except the 'X/back' button . . .
Have you the same problem when starting a new game?

Perhaps you can try to verify / repair the installation with GOG Galaxy or reinstall (save files!) Witcher 3?

What is gog galaxy?! - difficult to uninstall when using Steam - uninstalls tend to take steam and other games too - and I have 300gb that I don't fancy re-downloading! - And yes I have started a new game and still the problem persists. Also tried different resolutions but no joy there either. Thanks for your reply.
GOG Galaxy is a client like Steam from CD Projekt.

When you using steam you can also verify / repair your installation of Witcher 3. You can find the option in steam when right click on Witcher 3 in gamebrowser (steam).

I didn't know if I understand you right, but why you need to uninstall steam and your other games when only reinstall Witcher 3?

P.S.: Sorry for my english, it's not the best.
Do you have the last patch installed (1.08.3)?
This happen just with map or with others menus too (like inventory)?

Cause I remember something like that happened to me before, but I can't do it now, so I guess it is fixed now.
I remember I pressed a key (I don't remember which), and when I tried to open any menu it didn't work. Just black background. So, I had to return to the game and pressed that key again. Then all worked fine.

(Excuse my english)

Thank you - I emailed Red Projekt and heeded their 'Steam/verify method - it took an hour, but at least I'm up and running again! Thanks for all your help everyone . . . .
