Master crafted Wolf armor is the best Witcher set in the game. The swords are quite good as well. If you want to get it at a low level, then you will either have to do mostly main story missions (leaving a lot of side quests for latter), or if you have a PC, download the mod that enables the developers console and figure out the codes to either add the wolf armor diagrams or the armor itself.

redneck1st: The reason for which I was asking about it I was told you need to to that to get the Superior Vampire oil for which I've yet to find anywhere.
avatar
URJoking: I think you can just go there & loot it without doing the quest, but that quest is quite a good one to do anyway. You can easily google it if you don't know the location. I know what it's like trying to collect all those various oils & potions. For some strange reason, I've missed collecting the Advanced Petris Philter recipe & I must have killed dozens of various Trolls but I still need a cave Trolls liver! How can I still not have all the necessary ingredients when I'm Lvl 33 & pretty much been everywhere & looted it all to death! :)
I did the full quest and will have to admit that the quest was a joke. reward a useless trinket worth 1 Crown and nothing of value in the cave to speak of before or after the quest. Still haven't found the Superior Vamp oil.

How far do you've got to be in the main story line? After all I've done all up til the Skillege and once a quest is grey you don't get but 5 xp for it. Of course allot of the ones for which I've been doing now that are 4 plus levels higher then what I am I'm only getting 5xp for. At this rate I might make level 30 but I doubt it. Thats what sucks about having stuff that you can only use once you are of proper level either its uselss when you can use it or you don't get high enough eevel in the game to use it yet you waste all that time trying to get it.

If there is a Witcher 4 I doubt that I will pre order it. Think I'll wait on it to see if they change this flaw of the game.

I wouldn't call the Wolf Gear useless... some pieces, at enhanced level, are already better than some pieces of superior griffin gear, which is better than enhanced ursine gear and superior cat gear.

You can still buy all of the maps and get most of the enhanced, superior and master crafted diagrams. E.g. you can find the enhanced wolf school silver sword diagram down in the Bloody Baron's well (in the garden area in Crows Perch). However, you will need to get the Ugly Baby main quest and take Uma to Kare Morhen, otherwise you can't get the level 14 Wolf school starting armor, and some other higher level wolf diagrams. When you get to Kare Mohren do all the treasure hunts marked for that area, and then leave the area and find the other diagrams, craft you armor finish the rest of your side quests. Once you've exhausted everything else while wearing the best armor in the game, go back to Kare Mohren and you are all ready for the Wild Hunt.
My 2 cents.

White Wolf from the Wolf Witcher school should be able to get the wolf armor early in game.
Kinda silly he cant.

Feline gear is available early enough and with giving a spoiler you all know why this is kinda weird.

redneck1st: Ok was wondering how in the world do we get to Kaer Morhen? I've got the quest for the Wolf school Gear Level 14 and Wolf school gear upgrade Diagrams pt 4 lvl 29 to get from there. I was able to bring it up on the world map and click on it only problem is there is no FT markers any where.

Any and all help would be appreciated.
Kaer Morhen does not become available until you proceed the main questline forward with the Isle of Mists quest. A lot of the Wolf gear diagrams are located there but other Wolf gear is located in Skellige etc. as well. The Wolf gear is the best gear in the game overall, but each of the Witcher special gear have 4 levels of upgrades available and each level can only be used if you're at a certain level or higher and the different gear sets overlap in levels. While using a given set, you may find individual pieces of armor that are better than your current set item however, but once you get mastercrafted Wolven gear you've got the best overall gear in the game. I only found one piece of armor very marginally better by a few points that weren't worth it due to the loss of bonus to changing out a set item, plus other stats that were lower on it.

If someone has found actual better armor and weapons than Wolven gear in the game which are actually worthwhile though, I'd love to see screenshots of the item stats and locations where they were found. I've heard of some gear that is level 44+ but don't think I've found any and I ended the game at level 35 with a mild challenge so I can't imagine how someone would even be able to obtain level 44 without either cheating or gaming some of the bugs/glitches in the game that can be exploited to gain levels, but that's not playing the game that's rote farming exploitation.

So my end-game Geralt is fully wearing the Wolven gear with the exception of using the Feline crossbow as that's the best crossbow I found in game so far.
The sign intensity and attack power bonus make the set an interesting medium armor alternative to the griffin set.
I can't wait to get it, so I can respec from light armor to medium armor.

Not true, Kaer Morhen becomes available once you take Uma there. You can get the starting Wolf armor then. The ugly baby quest (which needs to be finished before the Isles of the Mist, how else do you figure out that you need to go there?) is before brothers in arms, which is then followed by the Isles of Mist.

Right, I got the order mixed up, Ugly Baby is correct.

Ok so I just recntly got the Ugly baby quest. So now all I need is to progress on that part of the quest further and then I will be able to get to Kaer Morhen.

Now As for the armor and weapons for the schools Every thing but the Crossbow has 4 levels of upgrading correct. The Crossboss is the only item where there is one diagram?

Yes, but the Wolf set has no crossbow.

Aha, that's good to know about the feline crossbow. Working on basic cat gear diagrams quest right now (on second playthrough; first playthrough didn't follow through on cat gear.) Thanks.

DocDoomII: Yes, but the Wolf set has no crossbow.
The only witcher school crossbows I found throughout the game were the Feline crossbow and the Ursine crossbow. Not sure if any others are present. Most of the Ursine gear is better than the feline gear however the feline crossbow definitely was better than the ursine.

Perhaps the remaining DLC will include a Wolven/Cat/Griffon crossbows or something, or perhaps the future expansion packs. :)
