Hi,
so I finished W3 a couple of days ago and it felt like breaking up with your loved one. I started thinking and comparing the Witcher 1 & 2 to the latest instalment and it came to me that finishing W1 and W2 was more like a chore than an emotional journey. And honestly it wasn't the fault of the story, but rather the game mechanics (W2) and graphics (W1). And it's a shame because I liked both plotwise and would love to play them again if they were recreated on the W3 engine.

So my question to you is this: is it possible to recreate W1/W2 (map/textures/scripts/cutscenes/etc.) using the tools released by CDPR? And if so - is anyone working on such project?

Good luck on the trail and the mandatory "sorry my english not so good" ;)

Ask yourself this: if it was feasible, wouldn't the professionals have already considered this and made their money?
For the professionals it surely is doable but why would they waste their time recreating a game they already made? Not to mention that for some people it would look like milking the franchise and their fans. I'd say they wouldn't do it even though it clearly is possible for them.

But I'm asking if it's possible for modders to do that using the tools made available by CDPR? Anyone here who tried using them? Anyone one knows about such attempts?

The tools released by CDPR are not full blown editors. We have the modkit, and that's it. I very much doubt anybody would be willing to spend the inordinate amount of time and effort it would take to produce a full blown game with what they have given us, and that's assuming it would even be possible.
I doubt that W3's modkit is versatile enough. However, I suppose it could be possible to recreate W1 with W2's modkit.

+10 Unfortunately the modkit is not as robust as first talked about. Maybe W2 could recreate W3 but not visa versa.

I doubt W2's engine would be able to handle an open world the size of W3... :-D
Good idea. I thought about it myself, when replaying the witcher 2, after finishing the witcher 3. It would be the best mod
anybody had created for the witcher 3, by far. But Modkit isn't enough. It isn't enough to let you edit the Witcher 3's map, much less make extra quests and storylines in the game.

No, without the RedKit that CDPR promised you can't mod the game, only small cosmeic changes.
