I have started the game, The Witcher 3 Complete Edition, from scratch numerous times and the same issue(s) eventually reoccur(s) during each play-through, with "phantom items" appearing within the Inventory's OTHER Quest Items. It has also affected Armor and Weapon Item Slots.

Unfortunately, this has now become a game-breaker for me. The issue was only a rare occurrence on the now, Classic version. However, with the Complete Edition this bug has even presented before I have completed the Main Quest and initiated a New Game +.

There must be a way to remedy this vexing problem. Perhaps, and for instance, by allowing a player to dump or remove items from anywhere in the inventory (yes, including quest items). This is especially needed for items which have images and/or descriptions, the appearance of which, is no longer evidenced. Said items in the inventory could be cleared piecemeal. Or, a method might be identified which would initiate a purge of, or a refresh for, all or a portion of the existing inventory or a section (area) of it.

I'm certain that there are many others who have invested a sufficient quantity of hours in game-play to have experienced the same inventory concerns which I am reporting here. This is only one of the negative and frustrating issues that I am encountering, which add to the sum of a cumulative customer experience. One other glaringly troublesome example is this: After many years of being a member in good standing, it's getting much too difficult to log in to buy a game or update already purchased games because of the forestalling reCAPTCHA impediment. But that's an issue for yet another thread.
Could you be little bit more specific? and provide more detail?
What do you mean by "ghost items appearing in other/quest tab"?

Also what do you mean with "it's getting much too difficult to log in to buy a game or update already purchased games because of the forestalling reCAPTCHA impediment."?

Are you saying that your pc is not saving credentials in browser?
because if that is the case , its not CDPR or GOG issue.

If your pc is setup not to preserve browser cache on exit and you prefer it to stay like that, you can always use GOG Galaxy application instead. Its in function very similar to Steam.

My quote above in regard to "ghost" inventory items: "...Images and/or descriptions, the appearance of which, is no longer evidenced..."

My post above, accurately describes the squares where inventory items present themselves without an image and with no description, only a placeholder with a blurry or (ghost/phantom) space/placeholder.

I am neither a fan of tracking, nor of storing a cache in my web browser. I view that as an invasion of my privacy.

If I wanted to employ a game client, I would still be a Steam user. I no longer purchase games from Steam and never again do I intend to play the games which I purchased there, unless I can purchase them here (or elsewhere) and play them offline.
1.
I have hundreds of hours of gameplay in this game and i never saw any item without description or icon as u describe as "ghost" items.

There is a ticket system on CDPR Site where u can ask for help.

https://support.cdprojektred.com/en/

Choose your game on that page and it will open ticket support.

2.
So you do not want gog client or steam client and u dont want browser to remember credentials ?
But you still want your account to be protected ?
Sorry i dont see any way this can be 'fixed' to be ok with you.

Everyone uses some form of account protection, be it authenticator, email confirmation, sms or similar.
If you have better idea how to protect millions of user accounts feel free to contact one of major firms and offer solution, i would be interested to hear it as well. :)

I would say that 5 seconds email confirmation is small price to pay if you want to not save credentials.

IceLancer: I would say that 5 seconds email confirmation is small price to pay if you want to not save credentials.
An email confirmation would be much simpler than a complicated reCAPTCHA with grainy images and frustrating messages that ask one to, "Try Again," when it's clear that no mistakes were made and other messages that the reCAPTCHA will expire in three minutes even though one has not made errors and time is running out. I am no longer buying games here until this nonsense stops for good.

If you have never experiences inventory issues with the bug that I reported, then perhaps you don't collect a lot of items, as I do. Great for you, as everyone may play the game the way they want. There are many posts on Steam forums that are linked to when one searches the right key words using a Google search. The results contain a plethora of complaints about this inventory bug. I don't need to make a report, as this is a known, yet currently unresolved issue.

I simply cannot play The Witcher 3 Complete Edition any longer with this inventory bug; it's the other reason that I do not purchase games here any more.

So you decided to attack me instead of trying to find reasonable solution?

I dont have time or interest for that. Please refer to CDPR support link.
Send them your save file along with all issues you have.

You accuse me of attacking you when I merely posted a reply that your solutions would not be helpful and why. Perhaps someone who had actually experienced the same issue would have a viable elucidation.

I, for one, think that CDPR would not care about the issue or even reply. Thank you for trying to be helpful, nevertheless.

EDIT: Update

I reloaded previous saved games from points before the inventory bug issue appeared. After numerous attempts to discover when and what quest preceded its occurrence, I finally isolated that it happened after the quest, Father Knows Worst. To be precise, shortly after selling an array items to Hugo at The Clever Clogs, who then had begun to operate the establishment, a handful of "empty tiles" appeared in lieu of actual items in my inventory. These tiles were empty, cloudy, and devoid of an item description.

The solution of backtracking and avoiding the aforementioned quest seems workable so far, and the inventory bug/glitch has not reappeared. I will continue to avoid the Father Knows Worst quest; I will wait until after I have completed all of the other quests before I tackle it again.

Also, if the inventory glitch reoccurs at another point I will provide another update. I hope that this report helps anyone else who has or will have experienced the same issue with their inventory, as The Witcher 3 Complete Edition is too much fun to pass up if one can find a way to work around such issues. There are very few games with which I have enjoyed so many hours of contented amusement and entertainment.

Thank you again, IceLancer for your thoughtful reply. Unfortunately, your suggestions were not viable in this case. However, you were the only one who stepped forward and offered suggestions. I apologize to you and hope that you will forgive me for appearing to have "attacked" you, as this was not my intention. After all, the people, like you, who actually try to help others are they who serve to make such a positive a difference in life. Sometimes, it's not possible to offer a "fix." Yet again, sometimes fresh ideas provide hope, an optimism which gives rise to a solution.

EDIT: FINAL UPDATE

The same inventory issue has occurred yet again and it would appear that there is no resolution to this problem. There were well over a hundred quests that I left unfinished in this play-through. However, this game is no longer playable for me. I don't intend to continue it now and I do not intend to start over either now, and perhaps I never will again. I also do not expect this issue to be fixed in the future.

Be advised about this issue if you are considering purchasing The Witcher 3 Complete.

Hey friend, i know exactly about what issue you are talking about, but googling a solution did not turn anything. But i did notice that it can occur after quests that have cutscenes where swords/armor are removed. But it also can occur after i start the game in DX11 mode, after that game automatically adds those "ghost squares" always in inventory other category and i cannot remove those, nor reloading previous save helps, it only helps if i reload some save way way back, so basically it corrupts every save. I do have some mods installed, so that also may be the issue, but i played game previously with most of those mods and i did not have the issue, it MAY be some newer mod i added is corrupting those inventory slots.

Thank you very much for your observations and suggestions. I had few mods installed, much fewer than when I originally encountered the issue a several years ago. When (and if) ever I play the game again, I am going to maintain a very limited inventory by picking up only very important items that I really need, such as swords and armor. Perhaps that will help.

NOTE: It would make a difference, if the issue were fixed, in helping me decide to buy another game by CD PROJEKT RED.
