It's in the tittle.
I'm not the only one with this problem as I have seen video tutorial where people genualy thinks that there is no quest for this, and other where the quest is present.

May be a bug ?

UPDATE

Enhanced Gear quest are trigerred by buying maps from blackmsiths/armorer (some said that they bought some from herborist, unconfirmed for now).

I have found
- enhanced griffin part 1 & 2 at Midscope : I couldn't buy the Part 1, may be because I already have some part of the enhanced gear P1 or may be it's just a bug. UPDATE Finished collecting all P1 and then, as I have the map for P2 the quest automaticly poped up. UPDATE : nop was wrong. Quest for part 2 didn't appear. The map has gone straight to the inventory in usable items instead of quest items.
I'm fed up with this, and load old savegame. At least now I know how the mechanic for thoses quest works.
- enhanced cat part 2 at blackbough
- enhanced bear at Oxfurt BUT it didn't trigger the quest because I didn't even have the quest for the basic gear (hope I didn't broke it)
Still not sure if the maps are randomely distributed and ttill looking for the enhanced griffin part 1.

Griffin School Gear is a part of the Scavanger Hunt quests for the set of Witcher specific gear. These quests can start once you collect one of the Griffin diagrams that come with letters describing location of the rest of the diagram’s locations.

This is the first I've heard of there being any quests for anything other than the first set of each (as in normal giffin/cat/bear sets - not the enhanced/superior/mastercraft variants).

According to the Prima strategy guide, you can find any one of a large number of items to start the quest, but there's no mention of there being more than one quest for the different tiers.

I triggered an initial quest for the Griffin and Cat school gear, but not for any of the enhanced variants. (Haven't got to the Bear set yet).

Very stange about buying the map, I'll look into it.

I know that the enhanced Cat School Gear quest doesn't need to buy a map because I have the quest. I didn't bought any map to a merchant, and I don't even have done the Basic Set already.

It seems that I am not the only one confused about that.

It's not that big problem because there enough ressource to find the part but I won't have completed the quest.
And I hope it doesn't prevent me to start the "Part 2" quest.

It seems that you were right.
I've just bought a map that gave me the quest "enhanced cat Part 2".
I must have found or bought one for the "cat Part 1" without even realizing it.

It seems that you buy those maps from blacksmiths/armorer.
I'm trying to define :
- if the maps are randomely be bought from blacksmith/amorer
- if can have multiple ones (it seems so)
- if blacksmith/amorer can re-acquire map

Pretty sure I picked up 1, 2 and 3 from a herbalist in Novigrad..

Interesting - I'd always assumed the maps just showed locations of pieces rather than started quests.

Yes very interesting because you have to pay attention to each stock for each merchant (herbalist, armorer, etc.) in the game.
