in the options for gog galaxy check the box that says create shortcut when installing games. then go to the witcher 3 under your games. click the more drop box and click on manage then verify/repair. when its done you should have a desktop icon.
What if there is no such options under more? I am not using Galaxy btw. I have no game icon and can't play it.

Steevensuarez96: yeah guys i downloaded the game on the gog galaxy client but it didnt make me a witcher 3 desktop icon i was wondering how i could make one? i went to the file storage location but there was a desktop shorcut for me to add.

other than that the game is working perfectly for me. running it on ultra settings with everything on and its running smoothly. just one more thing should i turn anti aliasing and vsync on? is vsync a bad idea? since it caps my fps at 60.
Go into the folder where you're game is installed ( on mine, it's in C:\GOG Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt). Go into the "bin" folder, then into the "x64" folder. There is a witcher3.exe you should be able to right click on and create a shortcut.

^ doesn't work. You can get the icon onto desktop but it does not run the game :(

I just dragged the Witcher 3 icon from start>programs. Works fine.
Hi, that is why I prefer Steam to the GOG-client, because errors as this one are basic stuff. I am pretty sure that, while installing the game, I never had the option to choose "make desktop icon". And.., if there is such a setting option "create shortcut while installing games", which has to be turned on, it should be turned on by default, or at least while installing the first game. There is nothing to discuss here, there is only one solution: Make "create a desktop icon" BY DEFAULT
