You are basically a nomad that only wears traditional tribe outfits, but takes on jobs and loots stuff to finance your trips.

Thats the way of the Witcher.

I believe the loot system reflects that. You are not the Knight that kills the Dragon to get his treasure. You are a Nomad that collects scrap to finance traveling, drinking and whoring ;)

And as someone else mentioned before, how should the monster know if the shiny thing he is guarding has any worth.Frankly in many cases i have the feeling the treasure is just called "guarded" because it lies where the monster lives, im not even sure the monster is aware that there is a chest, or even what a chest ist.

And I'am totally fine with that. I love the non-scaling enemies and I like the "realistic" feel of the loot system.

You may find the Tomb of Tut Anch Amun, but if someone plundered it before, all you find is beef jerky. ^_^

AMEN! Well said!

What is more, the game is designed in such a way you can kill higher level enemies with some effort. I took down some kind of a wood wrath in the bog. I was 14, it was 20 and summoned 3 lvl 20 wolves mid fight. I had 10-12 lvl gear. Boy was that satisfying :D Loot? Screw loot. I killed a 6 level higher, marked with red, wood freaking thing wrath!!!!! @_@ (3rd difficulty level)

This is an interesting and valid take on the subject. I guess it makes sense to look at it this way.

sariaen: That is how it is supposed to be. Finally something different from other RPGs out there. Besides, you can still loot pretty good stuff. Not to mention crafting. 2nd playthrough here, 3rd difficulty level, no problems with gear :P
Now since it's your 2nd play through were you able to find all of the Griffen Enhanced armor? You see I've been looking for the Griffen Enhanced boots and can't find them. A friend told me that according to the book for which he has which has a walk through for everything in the game it should be west of the harpy feeding grounds and both of us have checked on our games and neither one of us have been able to find it.

Enchanced Gryphon is not east from the Harpy nest on the map. I will check it out and let you know exactly where it is :) I had the Enchanced set in the 1st playthrough :P

Shelledfade: loot scales with the player level from what I've seen as you become a higher level.

Sometimes you can find something that is way higher than your current level but that's only happened to me like 3 times total out of many hours.
Now are you including diagrams in this here as far as the loot scalling with the players level? if so I'll have to fully dis agre with you on this as I've got allot of diagrams for weapons and swords for which are twice to 3 times higher then my currently level 11. And I found allot of them when I was only level 5 and 6.
Diagrams do not scale, they have fixed level and will stay on that level forever. Outside of witchers' gear, you still can find craft-able items as random loot.
It would be stupid to scale diagrams. That means if you just so happen to miss a lower level diagram that is needed to craft a higher level item yoiu will be totally f'd as you'll never get that low level diagram.
