One thing that I am finding strange in this game is the economy. I can understand if the devs wanted to prevent player from selling stuff to gather coins. But when a merchant pays around 10% or less of the full price it is too much.
For instance, a bottle of water costs more to buy than you can get by selling two swords!!!! Now who thought that would be a good idea?

On the topic though, can anyone suggest merchants who will offer at least a little better price. I am currently in Novigrad, and haven't been to Skellige Isles yet.

Thank you in advance.
I don't have problems with in-game money, I think the system it is ok, but I stay with only one school witcher gear, loot and sell all I can, when I am at the half of velen, the money are not a issue anymore.
the best places to sell items are where they are sold ie: armour at armourers, food and drink at inns etc... they tend to buy items at higher prices if their own stock is the same

The economy was obviously put in as an after thought. A decent system would have different prices reflecting supply and demand. Novagrad, where there is loads of competition for example, would tend to be cheaper than the Baron's castle.

I can imagine drinking water would be expensive though. It's not something anyone can do without and getting good quality water, especially in Novagrad would be a gamble in a decent economy.

Thinking all that through, while ensuring Geralt didn't become overly wealthy might be a little more complicated than the creators were prepared to try.

Each of the times I've played any of the Witcher games, money has never been much of a problem. Geralt is generally loaded. But then, I, personally, am a skintflint.

Thank you all for your responses. I really appreciate it.

Currently I have visited White Orchard, Velen, Novigrad and Skellige. From my general experience I found that for Weapons and Armours the Blacksmith in Arinbjorn provides the best price (the one in Novigrad near Hierarch Square provides a similar price too). For other items (junk and foods etc.) Passiflora, Kingfisher inn and Rosemary and Thyme provide good prices.

Feel free to comment if you wish so. I will post again if I find something new.
:)

EDIT: The armourer at Kaer Trolde also provides good price for weapons/armours.

I dont think the economy was an after thought this is just not a game based on supply and demand. It is generally not that hard to get money and it should never really be an issue unless you are trying to focus on all sets. Crafting everything yourself is the best way to save money instead of buying everything.
