Yrden/Quen + hit'n'dodge

If there is a certain sorceress with u then it will be easier and only a matter of staying alive long enough .. learn his patterns and dodge roll
I only used Quen, but I was with that certain sorceress, and I even managed to take down two of them plus a gargoyle
Use Yrden. It slows them down so much that you can hit them with 2-3 fast attacks and still have time to dodge their attack. After you learn their attack pattern you can take down golems/elementals thar are 6+ levels above you without a problem as long as you use Yrden.

You must have a different game to me TURSHiA. I tried Yrden several times, with sign boosting glyphs & sign boosting character bonuses! Didn't seem to do anything noticeable to it at all. In fact, I've been quite disappointed with Yrden in general so far, never seen anything stay in the circle of flames/lights so far. :)
The tactics/attack pattern works tho.

If you're still stuck, try to keep Keira between you & it but watch for it to charge/run past her at you. Dodge, then quickly attack it from behind but be ready to dodge fast before it counter attacks you. Keep repeating that tactic til it's dead. :)
As we can't yet post here from in game, I can't remember what oils, bombs & signs are supposed to be effective against it, which, of course, you only discover after beating it & accessing your bestiary. Thinking on that, I beat another Golem earlier in the game (got it's heart in my inventory) yet it wasn't in my bestiary! Anyone else have that?

Strongly disagree, Yrden might be the best and cheesiest sign when upgraded.
You can put multiple Yrdens and u circle around them making monsters always stay in there, plus the upgraded Yrden cause damage and block missiles, basically with that u can kill ANYTHING IN THE GAME WITH 0 DAMAGE DONE TO YOU, even though it can be slow and boring for stronger monsters, but still

For your second point I think the golem isn't on bestirary because the sorceress killed him .... happens as well if the self-exploding monsters (forgive me i forgot that necrophages name), i had to suecide and do the last hit on them in order to get their bestiary filled in !

Thanx YrdenNerf, great monica btw, I'm guessing you're many Lvls above me (7) and that Yrden get's better later in the game when you've somehow acquired enough Full mutagens & have available bonus spaces & have earned enough upgrade points to really go to town on boosting Yrden. My original point still stands for me, I have tried Yrden with as many boosters as I have, on various monsters, with little or no effect so far. Strangely, I've found Axii to be more effective at stunning/stopping monsters, & I haven't half the boosters for that sign. :)
thanx for clearing up the Golem/Bestiary point, it was bugging me. :)

Are you talking about the enhanced Yrden ? im not talking about the the slowing effect, but rather the 2nd tier Yrden which damages foes.
You need to long-press Q and it'll set the 2nd tier Yrden, and im not that high level, im only level 14 but it comes to that I try not to use that Yrden because it cheeses fights too much and I dont feel like a real sword-y witcher :-P

I'm Lvl 7 & just have standard Yrden (as far as I know, coz I don't see it working(trap) let alone damaging anything!) but have 2 points in Yrden strengthen + various Yrden &/or sign glyphs and weapons with Yrden/sign bonuses. Sheez, why do they have to make RPG's so f*****g complicated! :). I've equipped a matching mutagen to boost sign upgrades too. Not sure what else I can do at my Lvl, both in the game & of understanding the complexities of the godsdamned enhancements! :)
I use Quen and just dodge sideways whenever it's about to attack then hit it in the back. Cast Quen whenever it expires. I take on Golem with a skull icon. The undying skill helps too.
Quen + perk that allows you to spend adrenaline to cast signs rocks!
killed that golem on max difficulty on lvl 5 or 6
