Okay so my crew of would be thieves have just donned their masks and picked up their wooden swords and are waiting on G to take them to the basement. Really stupid question, guys, but how do we get there? We came down the ladder to get into this room but there are no doors in the no obvious trap doors either. its the small hours of the morning here so I'm probably just being a bit dim, but how did you get out please?!

If I remember correctly, there should be a nearly hidden starway next to the character that is with you (I can't remember his name).
It's where the other thief disappears as soon as the guards come.

hum, all four of us are still hanging around at the moment, no sign of any guards and I just picked up the love letters but I'll certainly take a look for a hidden stairway. Thanks for the tip!

So you're in the attic... yes, you should definitely look for a trapdoor or a ladder
