gare87: Dont know if this thread is where i should write. But after this supposed "hot fix" game started freezing in DX11 (did not try dx12 because performance are worse). I play regularly and picture just freezes while in background still working supposedly, because i can hear footsteps, entering exit main menu, but picture just stays still. I played before this hotfix normally did not have any crashes on DX11 nor on DX12. This started happening after "hotfix". If there is some other place where i can report this, please refer me.
Because This sh*t is getting ridiculous, after all the trouble with CP and delays with W3, they still were unable to make the game working fine. I am really getting annoyed by this kind of stupidity, its like they fired whole original team, and now all of them are unexperienced, with zero fuks given to make game working fine.

m4stax: Shader cache is the problem, you have to wait a few mins for the shaders to cache and then reload the save to get rid of the stutters. Check out Digital Foundry's Youtube video.
Unfortunately no, that does not help, because it is stuttering regardless, FPS drops are frequent, especially in DX12 with low GPU usage, DX11 is better, with more tolerable FPS drops, but it still drops from 80 to 50 60.
And again, i did verify the game files, and no matter game crashed again with freezing picture.
let's play on old processors, pls!
Yes, compile the game so that AVX is not needed at all and we can play on older CPUs. PLS :)

I found that capping the fps to 60 gets rid of the stuttering for the most part. DX12 performance is still shocking and unless I want to play at 1440p with RT and Ultra+ settings which needs to be capped at 30 as 60 fps 4k is a no go on anything lower than a 3070.
im back, bought a whole new PC for my job, an i9, 64 DDR5 RAM, 3090 GTX, new drivers, latest windows 11 build etc, and guess what, still CTD on DX 12 not matter what i do xDDD

Did you download the game again or just restored it from the other ssd/hdd ??

I just built a 13400f/3060ti system for a friend and tried to test the game on that rig and it was crashing untill .. get this .. I deleted everything GOG related made a new account and he purhcased the game on the new account and then it worked.

My guess is that all the mods and tweaking that I've done was causing some sort of conflict and was causing the CTD issue.

I've almost given up trying to troubleshoot this crap show of a game now and just telling people to fire up the game in dx11 and set it to Ultra+ and enjoy the "slight" visual improvement. We will most likely have to wait for the idiots left at CDPR to fix their broken game.

i completly re downloaded it, but it dosent matter , i found the FIX,

FIX IS FOUND PEOPLE , it goes like this, nothing worked for me, i tried all of them possible fixes, ALL OF THEM, than i saw a post of a dude saying to run the game in DX 12 but without any RT, for like 20 minutes (10 minutes did the trick for me ) so i plyed the game for like 10 minutes without rt, made a save, than i enabled the first RT the raytracing GI ( Global illumination ) than i loaded the RT ambient occlusion and made a save, it crashed after 15 min but it was a success, cause it always crashed instant when i loaded it before, so i restarted it and played for another 15 min in DX 12 without RT, than i turned on RT GI and RT AO, was stable for a longer time, than i saved it and enabled all of them RT features and saved, launched the save after quting and its working flawlessly. So the fix for me is to play in DX 12 for 15 minutes, than slowly turn RT on, it should work for everyone.
CDProject fix the AVX requirement!!!! Please make the game playable on older CPUs!!!
No news on removal of AVX2 requirement yet?
Oh well i guess i wont be replaying this game after all.
Its funny tho i can play Cyberpunk on 2k screen 60fps nvidia dlss but i cant play witcher 3 at all.

The 4.01 patch version works fine now on a i7-2600 without AVX2, including all the raytracing features in DX12! Raytracing even works on non-RTX GPUs - big performance hit on a Pascal Titan X, but it does work.

Really?
Thats quite huge and they didnt even bother to mention in changelog? Weird?
I have also trouble to start the fresh installed game also. But I do not own a RTX grafic card.
AMD Ryzen 5 5600x
Nvidia GTX 960 ( Treiber Version 528.49)
Windows 10 22H2
WQHD Display

Reinstallation does not help, also other tips like administator mode etc

DX11 Mode starts the game. I set here the graphics to "high", but the DX12 Version stay crashing directly at start.

So I do not get, how the Fix should work. By the way, thats more a "workaround" and not a fix for me....

Did you install game on different folder then before? Because if there were some Old mods that you may have long ago or forgotten, then they will be not removed from game folder, even if u reinstall the game. Only manualy deleting whole game instalation folder (after uninstall) give you sure that non of those files left.

But regardless of that, with ur GPU there is no point to run W3 NG with other then DX11 mode. Ur gpu is to slow for dx12 mode in this game, even if you have successfully run it. Because if you don't use RT ( that ur card even not support ) then dx12 for now is unoptimized by gpu and cpu usaged, is more demending and in general visually there is almost no difference(little bit better ssao and ssr but nothing special), . It's waste of time trying to fix that and maybe it will be fixed after changing GPU to something better.

Thanks for the DX11 Hint with my cpu. I have a fresh installed PC and I have not played the witcher 3 before. I own it a few years, but had never enough time to play it until now.
