The game launches fine from GOG Galaxy or directly from the EXE, but I'm trying to do Steam's in-home streaming with it and every time I launch it as a non-Steam shortcut (locally or remotely for streaming) the game crashes immediately.

Anyone have any clue? I'd absolutely love to play this from my hammock in the living room but only my desktop in my bedroom is powerful enough to play it. XD

Steam has an "in-home streaming" service? Err, no idea.

But have you ever streamed a non-steam game with it? My guess would be no and that's probably your problem.
I literally was just having this same issue yesterday and even posted a topic about it not 10 minutes ago. However I seriously JUST tried something from the sticky topic.

Remove d3d11.dll from your x64 folder:
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64

The game instantly started in Steam!

This got it working. I was even able to stream it to my old laptop. I seem to recall seeing this fix for an issue of screen recorders not working on Witcher 3, which makes sense, since Steam is just streaming the whole screen for in-home streaming.

Thanks a lot!

I have the same issue. After deleting d3d11.dll my game run, but Steam overlay not working.

For working Steam Overlay I must backup and delete two files from ...

\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64\
d3d11.dll
dxgi.dll

Now I am able make screenshots with Steam again.

I have had same issue 3 days ago ( first cant start TW3 from Steam, second- lack of overlay) You wrote that solution is remove some files .dll OK but I use mod to improve graphical quality ( 1.000 Times Better v2.3- Full Package-58-2-3.rar which has repaired toggle key) and cant remove that file because it is required by this mod to function properly :(

How can I run mod and have steam overlay ?

Does this still work after the various patches? I'm on a Windows 10 machine, have been trying various solutions found online to run Witcher 3 through Steam for streaming, and it simply refuses to boot. I'm adding the witcher3.exe from /x64 to Steam. gog galaxy is running. I delete d3d11.ddl. Nothing.

I guess gog doesn't want me to sit on the couch with my family :(
I had to delete both files as JXP did in order to get the game to launch at all, but it worked! Thanks gang!

(Windows 10, v1.10, Nvidia GTX 760 4GB, i5 4690K, 16GB DDR3)

But... are these files useless?
Not sure, but the game seems to be working fine.

I just want to clear up a bit, made a PSA note, granted I'm a bit behind but the fix can also be done with galaxy client entirely, disabling the game overlay DLC
What do those two dll files do that we remove? It works for me, but before patch 1.08 (i think) it worked fine before removing the dll files.
