I bought W3 retail a while ago, activated it on GOG, I have it on my account and galaxy visible, but in other places of the GOG it doesn't show up as owned - in 'buy series' or promotions. Is there a way to update that?

This is a known glitch. Many others have the same problem. Perhaps you should write to GOG support:

I dont know what happened so I sent them a picture of my proof of purchase because its gone from my library

Same for me. Activated my retail copy on GOG/Galaxy, but both GOG/Galaxy show it as not bought.

This is a known problem, and is related to some games that have specific editions, or different types of codes (retail, digital etc).
Just in case, we are currently displaying a warning in checkout when someone tries to buy a version containing something they already own. For now, please ignore any cases of games nor being marked as owned, if you do own them, and can find them in your account's library.
I appreciate your understanding.

Yours was a different problem, which required our manual intervention. I just re-processed your order manually, and you should have the game on your account now. Sorry about the original issue, though. :(
