I plan to install the game tonight but was wondering if I should use a controller?

It really depends on your past experiences and what you have access to.
Do you already have a controller?
Have you played similar Action-RPGs (Shadow of Mordor/Batman/Darksouls) before?
If so have you used a controller or Mouse&Keyboard?
I'd suggest you stick with what you are comfortable with if you have past experiences in the genre. It's a matter of personal taste after all.
I personally prefer a controller because of its analog movement controls. I think it is a worthy trade off for the finer camera control you get with Mouse&Keyboard.
P.S. If you go with a mouse and keyboard make sure you tick "Hardware Cursor" in options.

Good move.
If you try to use a keyboard & mouse You constantly get a message come up like a virus warning.
It says something like:
We detect you are using a keyboard & mouse you fucking wanker, this is a console game so get a Microsoft X-box controller or fuck off.
They may have shortened the message in the latest version, but it is still there.

rule of thumb, first person m&kb, third person controller... unless shooting or driving is involved then switch to controller for driving and m&kb for shooting.
