So I got sidetracked by stupid information on sites (previous games just need to have their savegame location and directory intact for the witcher 3 to locate - it was the same for witcher 2, but I was zombie-tired at the time).

Now I've decided to replay the trilogy, and have noticed sites claiming a certain infamous sword can be imported from W1 into W3, but every instance in text and video says "import your savegame from witcher one into three".

I was miffed that this sword was nerfed in W2, so surely they mean you import your savegames across the trilogy, keep (possibly) the sword in the first 2 games, and are awarded it at the appropriate point in W3?.
All the saves exist in my documents. If all games are gog versions, Then you should be set to go. What is the unique sword youre referring to? Witcher 3 shouldnt have anything to do with witcher 1 unless indirectly through 2

That's bullshit. The sword you are talking about, I presume, is Aerondight. It can only be obtained in W3 during the quest 'There Can Be Only One' in the Blood and Wine expansion. You cannot import a W1 save into W3.
Yeah, most of it is usually BS, but found the quotes here:

They each specifically say import from W1...I enjoyed 1 quite a lot, thought 2 was crap, and just started 3 - which is so good I thought I'd start the trilogy again - if it does work I'll just take my save from 2-3 and wil update here. But am not holding my breath.

And it'll take me ages, so am not suggesting anyone else do either. Thanks.
