Hi I was having difficulty with the wild hunt guy in the cavern so decided to level up before trying to continue the quest. Now that I have grown a bit I tried to complete the quest but can't get to the place I need to be. I have found Keira in the cavern but she won't create the portal to get to the other side.
Is this quest locked? can I continue with out having to complete this quest?

When you activate the quest again from your quest log, just follow the directions given. I can't speak to that particular situation, but I have done exactly what you have done a couple of times - start a fight and then realize I am too low to complete it - so I retreat. I haven't had an issue coming back to it later on...
